There may be no better year than this year for the Niner's to climb back on top of the division. Their team building exercise is a couple years ahead of the Hawks and has some pieces in place.

The Hawks are rebuilding and have to deal with Carroll. What more needs to be said.

The Cards will have to go through some Leinart growing pains. I doubt the offense will be nearly as good as it was under Warner.

    The Rams .... yeeeeaaahhhh.....

Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?

**** atleast i wouldnt feel bad if the rams won the division. I could consider it a freak accident and not have to worry about the next season. As long as you guys or the cards dont win the division ill be happy.

the rams are only allowed to rise from the ashes once every 20-25 years and make a glorious run

its been 10 years - so no go for the rams

hate to tell you but if the 9ers can find a consistent offense - the will win the NFC West

Ironically, the Rams have just been purchased by a man who lives in the city I live in. Wonder if he'll hire me to work for the Rams if I tell him I'm a 49ers fan.

When you get hired, tell them to hire me! I have a sport management MS, and maybe a PhD soon. I can do data work, event operations, community outreach, sales, marketing, statistical analysis, event coordination, public appearance events. I have professional and academic experience, and can provide references.

    if we knew we would

but its all speculation at this point

Right now - Scotty is on an extended leave of absence. Supposedly for family reasons - i guess he is going through a divorce.

But Jed York and his buddy Marathe (sp?) want to move into a new direction.

At this point i think the family is calling the shots and if you are not on their side you are out. I guess Scotty was not on their side - he was being blamed for the Briggs incident that supposedly left a "black eye" on the team

At this point I am sick of not seeing this team in the playoffs only 2 teams have had a longer drought than the 9ers and it is just unacceptable

So if it works out - great - if not the entire york family can jump into the bay and never be heard from again

    Scotty is gone.

On another note, the NFL is discussing a new OT rule.

If the team that gets the ball first goes down and kicks a FG, the defending team will get a chance to do the same, or win with a TD.

I think that is a fantastic idea.

Sink or swim time for Smith this year.

He will be in the second year of an offensive coordinator for the first time? in his career.

He has Crabtree, Davis and Gore around him as weapons.

If he fails to produce this year, I'd imagine that is all she wrote and they are back to the QB saga unless Carr impresses, Davis shows up out of nowhere or they pull something in the draft.

terrible business decision again but whatever - hopefully Jed realizes the 9ers need Olineman and not 2 RBs etc

As for the OT rule - they should adopt the college and high school football OT
Each side gets the ball on the 25 yard line - regular rules no clock
On the 3rd OT teams must go for 2 points

Far more excitement imo than the NFL overtime setup
and this new idea just sounds terrible - had New Orleans went for a TD Favre still would not have had a shot at winning the game - so what then

The college way is the only fair way - maybe start them on the 40 since NFL kickers can easily make a FG from the 25

I love the college rule, but even this new rule is better than the current setup.

If the team gets the field goal, the other team has a shot. This may lead to more teams trying to get a TD and the win rather than just booting it through and would at least make it somewhat more exciting. The defense would be given more of a chance to make a stop if the offense was worried about the opposing offense coming back to kick a FG or score a TD.

I know there has been trade talk, but hadn't heard that any NFC West teams were interested..... Not sure why anyone would want him if it required giving up a second round pick or a collection of draft picks like has been said.

it cracked me up when they were talking about bringing him here to replace matt. They tried saying they could understand because matt is "injury prone" but they both had the same injury last season and matt missed less games then mcnabb..

  32. 03-24-2010 04:00 PM #67
well at least McNabb knows what the playoffs are

He is not great but if he can play all 16 games he is better than anything the 9ers have on the bench

But they did just get Carr so who knows

Warner made Arizona a Super Bowl contender and everyone thought he was washed up

I don't really consider McNabb washed up, but I also wouldn't consider giving away picks for him since he might only give 1 or 2 good years ..... assuming he doesn't get injured again. He should just finish out his career in an Eagles uniform.

Niner's signed Barry Sims for another season.
