i will be amazed if they dont win 10 games

hopefully they ruin Carroll's first game in seattle

and 4 (possibly 5 - denver game) nationally televised games

wonder how that will work with the london deal

I can see now that my Christmas present will be tickets to the St Louis game

I was worried we were going to draft Clausen.

im worried its still going to happen

really wanted spiller but really glad he went to buffalo and not in the nfc west

at this point id take in this order
    earl thomas
    derrick morgan
    dez bryant
    trade down
    jimmy clausen

im not sold on davis but apparently the 9ers were fearing other trades and just wanted to get him instead of missing out on the last of the top tackles on the board

i wouldnt be surprised if they grabbed iupati either to really solidify that line

i think i like the nfl network coverage better but all these moves i love watching and hear mel kiper look like a fool

a few head scratchers already because he doesnt rate the guys the same as teams do

also looking at the espn rundown of drafts - 9ers look pretty good compared to some of these teams failures

Two linemen. No Clausen. I like what's going on.

i would take a shot on clausen now that the oline is shored up - but still want dez bryant

I wasn't expecting two linemen, but I like the choice. If Clausen is still around later, go ahead and grab him. Looks like it is Smith's team though. If he can't succeed this year, there is no hope for him.

This line should also be able to open some holes for Gore.

dont like dez bryant going to dallas

really would have liked to see another offensive weapon although Benn is still there from Illinois

a very underutilized player had he been at USC or Ohio State would have made a lot of noise instead of the crap tastic Illinois spread option

Keep in mind, they just picked up Ginn as a 3rd receiver. He hasn't shined as a #1, but I think he'll be ok as a #3.

I'd still like to see them pick up something in the secondary.

well now the glaring need shifts back to defense - pass rush and secondary

clausen is also on the board surprisingly (i thought he would fall but not to round 2)

Best would have been nice - Detroit is really putting a good young team together

i cant think of the guys name but the safety from ohio state imo was a stud - not sure where he was projected but i think it would be great for SF to get him too

so many wants so few choices

overall i like what they did - the Oline should be stout for the next 10-12 years

Let me get in on this action....

I was a little down at first too, given the fact we didn't get your typical "stud" but Balke did what he needed and addressed the biggest hole on the team. Between these two, Staley, and if Chilo can just turn that corner, we're going to be solid up front for a while.

Every mock draft I've seen had Haden going to us at 13 and Iupati at 17. Would have liked that... I was really surprised to see Haden go so high. Would have also like to have seen Spiller but oh well.

What I don't get.... I read an article on the NFL app on my Droid stating the Chiefs were looking to trade down and that we we're the number 1 team in the running. Why would they NOT have traded up to pick up Berry??? Could you imagine the secondary with DeShon, Berry, Spencer, Clements, Harris, and Bly back there? Good Lord!!!!

You still would have gotten Iupati or Bulaga with the 17th pick. Oh what may have been.

This first round was solid - a young and potentially very strong Oline for years to come - it will allow the 9ers to pick big time studs in the future - there were some to be had this year but the best was long gone before 11 (Spiller)

as for KC - they probably wanted BOTH 1st rounders - and thats why the trigger was not pulled. The 9ers need the offensive line help more than the secondary help and thus getting Berry would have ignored a glaring hole for another year but deliver the 9ers another play maker

Haden was a reach at that spot but once again - i think everyone had Clausen going then - really love the looks on McShay and Kiper about that - tools

So with no Haden or Spiller and apparently no interest in Dez Bryant (Ginn will probably be fine with Morgan and Crabs) they moved up just so they could grab the last guy they had wanted. They gave up a 4th but landed a potential pro bowl right tackle (if he beats the lazy rap)

The 9ers had their cards set and played the hand that was dealt and came away in a very good position

Taylor Mays is still up there along with Benn and Gilyard and even Dan LeFevour

maybe Clausen falls into their laps - i would like to know the major knock on him though

Earl Thomas was still on the board when they picked Davis. They could have grabbed Thomas for the secondary, and screwed over the Hawks, but they obviously were cognizant of their most glaring need. The o-line has needed to be addressed for years and maybe they have finally done something about it.

I personally would like to see Clausen fall to us, but I doubt it as I heard the Rams phone was ringing off the hook in prep for tonight.

It is good that they focused on the O-line, I'm giving Singletary an A- for that first round!

doubtful - davis was what the 3rd or 4th OT taken

and Iuptai was after that - they will get their deals once the other top picks start signing contracts

Mays - he is a freak - terrible in coverage but a hell of a run stuffer

maybe he becomes an Brian Urlacher type where he was converted from safety to linebacker - definitely has the athletic gifts to really play any position in the back 7 of a defense

I dont mind it because they are not giving him 1st round money

as a 2nd rounder its a better chance

right now id like to see the 9ers bag Everson Griffen or Colt McCoy
