name's ted, new to the vortex, family has been rollin dubs for a looong time. i started out with a 73 bug and my wife still has the 2k bug she bought brand new from vorderman's in ft wayne. looking to get a mk3 or newer jetta project to roll the kiddo's around in...if any of you guys have ever been to milan for the bug out or down to xenia for the larry's show you have probably seen my or my brother's beetles at one point or another, although it's been quite some time ago...brother has had a couple drag bugs and mine was a driver..my brother's drag bug is more well known of them all, a viper blue chopped chassis car with checkerboard across the bottom...a guy in Swanton owns it now...

oh yeah, I'm in Bryan, btw....

well, took the beetle up to my brother's last night to put the new tires on it, and found more wrong with it. now it needs a left inner tie rod, left axle shaft, and both e-brake cables. also found the coolant flange off the side of the head weeping. yay. so, i came to work this morning and ordered up all my parts, $163 for both cables, axle, and complete tie rod assembly. the joy continues, found a jetta on craigslist i might call about though...it's red and has chrome wheels, anyone from here by chance or maybe know of the car?

I wouldn't touch that car with someone elses 10ft pole.

Dude can't speak a word of english and it's got 190k miles which I'm sure were well maintained judging by the plethora of great aftermarket goodies on it.

when it comes to anything on craigslist, i most generally go into it with the notion of it's been neglected for quite some time...hate to be that way but most times it's true, especially with such sketchy listings as that one...there was a black jetta on Ft wayne craigslist that supposedly had a ton of work done to it including a turbo upgrade and a body kit, but it seemed like i'd inheret someone else's problems with that one....there was a sick little red older jetta from sandusky on cl a while back i was diggin on until i found out it had a salvage title...that was a bummer

yea i seen that too lolo ...mine was a cl special and i paid 2,400 for half assed done aba swapped coupe ...dude swore it was a good driver and well come to find out after i spent asmuch as i paid for the car on suspension rebuild and cooling system rebuild and some stuff runs good now and rebuilding the shifter ....yea it did have new axles in it though ...nothing esle was done i was totally lied to ...and the wiring is horrific in the engine bay i am working through it now ...and replaced all the headlights and upgraded to a relay harness from eurowires too ...just getting around to getting the body parts sand blasted and re done to fix all the dented up chit on it now lol ...re painted all the core support and new bits and pieces oh its been fun but looks so much better ....the po claims he didnt know it wasn't done but he sure was happy to take my cash ...still think he is a douche for not giving me 500 back though ...i wouldn't have screwed somebody that hard ...so buyer be very wary lol .. oh yea not to include the windhsield i put in and the tires i had to put on it to as a soon i got it. i got took pretty good it would seem

You just have to know what you're looking for and looking at. However, you only gain that knowledge with experience be it working on them every day or by being burned and realizing how you got burned each time. Until you have compiled a list long enough to keep you out of sh:t, then you can buy with confidence!

well, did the regulator a couple days ago, that went pretty smooth. decided to tackle the left halfshaft tonight. in my garage. on the floor. that was stupid. turns out that once you figure out to remove the sway bar link and crank the wheel all the way to the left you can pop that little puke right out without removing the lower ball joint. oh, and removing the sway bar link makes it a hell of a lot easier to get at the inner flange bolts too. tomorrow night is inner tie rod end night, i'm almost looking forward to it, because after that is the e-brake cable episode. w00t. anywho, i'd be down for a meet sometime, but hopefully after I get a jetta. otherwise i'd be rockin the beetle....she's nothing special right now, just has Eibach springs on it really....still has the steelies and hubcaps even to go right along with the faded green paint...oh, can't forget about the kids' car seats...lol

If you're looking for tires, I'd suggest www.tirerack.com Great pricing, and they ship right to your door. As long as they are in their South Bend warehouse, every time I have ordered from them I have them next day.

ya ive looked at tire rack i had a huge debate on my tire size i was gonna run 235/35/18, but ppl say they are too small on a b5, so maybe a 225/40/18, idk lol my car is already low, n being in toledo, low is a problem, fyi anyone in toledo stay off glendale ave, ive drug my drivetrain stabilizer 3 times there now lol,

dude wtf!!! i swear i have been to east harbor and scoped that place out!!! that is so weird that u brought that up, all that parking up by the beach, that would be a nice setting for a meet, we should check the 2011 show schedule, and try to find a date that don't conflict with any bigger shows, i don't wanna be the only guy showing up lol

A type roster made up and try to find a fair meeting place, sorry to anyone popping in from c-bus, or Cleveland area this will be mainly focused on NWoh ppl, but still welcome if willing to make a bit of a drive, as far as something at east harbor, that's more aiming to be an attraction, bring in ppl from a ways out, if any interest, lemme know

will make a thread for this but to do it at east harbor will be a lil expensive lol ...not too bad but if the shelter house is rented and well the big thing is publicly displayed alcohol ...i am just having some flashbacks of dub dash and well lol ...its doable anyhow ...will make a thread in the event page this week sometime for sure and me kurt will get together and see what else is around too.

i emailed east harbor, and they say that they do have shelter houses, and group lots that can be reserved, and as ickey said, its not too cheap so if we get enough ppl that wanna do this it will have to be a group buy-in , cant put all this money down and have no1 show up, get ahold of me bryan and we can go look at a couple other prospective locations,
