Thank you very much. I definitely don't do things out of attention, but the kind words that you and everyone else have said are much appreciated.

The main reason I posted those numbers is because I was shocked at them myself. In both wars since 2001, we have lost 7,800 service members...in the last YEAR, we have lost 6,500 veterans to suicide. Definitely a shocking number. I just want people to be aware of this.

Last night was a VERY accomplished evening. I did three main things to the GLI and two to the R32.

    - Fuel filter (was due at 60,000 and I am at 66,000)
    - R32 junction box hook up
    - Upgraded subframe bolts
    - Intake SeaFoam

Obviously no photos of the fuel filter...pretty straight forward install that took me about fifteen minutes. For anyone that wants to know, the fuel filter is supposed to be replaced every 30,000 miles and costs about $30.

Next up was the R32 junction box. I have had it in the bay for a while, but just never had time to hook it up. So that is what I did. So the layout goes like this:

    - positive cable from battery to post 1 on box
    - positive cable from post 2 on box to starter
    - positive cable from starter to fuse/relay box

For those who are wondering, I did this in an attempt for a more reliable way of wiring the battery relocation and a much easier way to jump start, or even access a positive terminal, the battery. I also used OEM cloth tape to help match and clean up the wires.

Finally the subframe bolts. I urge everyone that hasn't done this to do so. Even if you don't have the subframe clunk.

Here is the difference between the two bolts:

New sub frame bold vs. old subframe bolt

On the right is the OEM bolt. From my research, this bolt is actually designed to break away during a collision. This means this bolt is not extremely strong. I did this on both the GLI and R32 and every bolt I took out was bent. The GLI was more bent than the R32, but that is to be expected. I did one bolt at a time and got them extremely tight with a very long breaker bar. I need to borrow my brother's large torque wrench to make sure they are good. One car took me about twenty minutes.

While I was under there, I took some "low car damage" pictures:

    My oil pan
    Scraped oil pan #lowcarproblems

    My subframe
    Scraped subframe, part one #lowcarproblems

    Scraped subframe, part two #lowcarproblems

    And some SeaFoam aftermath.

Replica wheels are like fake boobs. They look good on the outside, but when it comes to quality, Nothing beats the real thing.
