Yip, you got that right!! The gauges fit nice and snug - the gauges that I have also seam to have a slight taper so the deeper you push the gauge into the pipe the tighter the fit.

I'll see how the dash gauges work out, but the A-pillar's pipe were just used to line the gauges up nicely and to make the molding easy.
