Thread: Great track day vid A2 GTI spanking everyone

  1. 03-18-2010 09:26 AM #1
Was going through my car vids recently and had forgotten this video of a guy at Brands track day with his Caterham capturing an A2 GTI just blowing through the field and found he couldn't catch it. Its a hoot.

Great scot was it quick though! It filled me with shades of orange the likes of which I have only previously experienced at Bar-Mitzvahs and in the parking lot at charity auctions!

Listen close Mk.II crowd: THIS is how you do a Mk.II. It has better stance than your car, and it's faster than your car. All this while handling better than your cars.

Given those spoiler things on the front quarters, I'd guess front wheel drive?

Always amazes me the "free for all" nature of tracks days across the pond. Or maybe I am making too blanket a statement, but the days I've attended here in Washington are regimented with passing zones, car distance expecations etc... I understand all the reasons etc. But man, going wheel to wheel looks like so much FUN!

    Love the Golf.

Nelson's Ledges here in Ohio and Beaver Run in PA are pretty close to free
for all ... if you are acting like a jackass or putting people in danger though,
they'll throw you a black flag as a 1st warning and then ejection for any
    subsequent black flags.

In for later. Shouldn't watch the video at work =P

I'd also love to see the build thread. Must have taken some work to get the car to handle well while being that low.

My VW isn't a great performance platform dragging its pan for style, it's a stock dd. This car is slammed for performance reasons and STILL has awesome stance. There's a difference my friend.

That is wicked. Inspiration to get mine finished and on the track, sans turbo and 12 valves... Sentinelist approved.

you're right, your mk3 is a mediocre perf platform.. nobody is arguing the fact that you can be low and still perform. calling out the mk2 crowd and talking about stance when you and the mk3 crowd are just as guilty is a stupid fight to pick, then make an excuse about how yours is for style...

Um, I never made an excuse for mine, I said it was stock, which means stock EVERYTHING except a techtonics exhaust, K&N filter, and tires.
