      2004 VW R32

So I posted this wrong last time, I am looking for the center VW emblem on the steering wheel, not the silver R32 badge on the bottom of the wheel. I have been searching for this part without success and do not want to replace the whole air bag. The wife scratched it up with a bracelet. I would like to find something that can just stick on the old emblem and it does not have to be a VW symbol. I bought one a while a go but it ended up being for the MK5 steering wheel and will not fit the MK4, looks great but to small. I believe I have seen some on some MK4 GTI’s but don’t know if they are one of a kind. Any help would be appreciated. I also put this in the classifieds.

From what I've heard it is not a replaceable part.

I tried to get mine off also, as it has a sizeable scrape on it. No luck. No luck finding a new one, either.

There's a big VW-only parts yard near me; they told me it does not come off. But I have seen pictures of other VWs with something else there, so go figure. Probably if you really REALLY wanna get it outta there you can, but by breaking something, likely whatever it is that holds it on.

From what I understand it does not come out and I dont want to try to take it out because I dont want to mess up the air bag. I was just thinknig there may be fix out there I did not know about. Thanks for the replies.

Those were stickers. I assume you're talking about the 20th Anniversary GTI with a rabbit on the wheel.

James Dean R32 managed to replace his by digging the old one out with an xacto knife, but generally speaking it's not a replaceable part.

that's not a fair comparison. boobs win against all!

i'd been thinking about an .:R logo to cover my scratched emblem for a while now, but that doesn't do it for me. Maybe with a slightly smaller logo it would do the trick.

Look for an eBay seller called "waynewan". Or just e-mail him directly, you can pay with paypal. He may give you a better deal buying outside of eBay (no fees). wwan11@icqmail.com is his address.

I'm going to link one of his auctions just so people can see the quality - Mods, if this isn't kosher please remove, but I have no affiliation with the guy or anything, just like his work.

He sells badges for both the keyfobs and the center of the steering wheel. They are nice quality brass with an epoxy/resin filling that doesn't scratch easily -- NOT just painted/silkscreened on a piece of aluminum as some sellers have.

Very happy with my fob badges, if I ever wanted to cover my center emblem I wouldn't think twice about using his product.

Unfortunately the wheel badges are only for Mk V, which have smaller emblems than our wheel.

I contacted this guy previously about Mk IV size badges and he didn't make them at the time....still looks that way.

...that Wolfsburg badge he sells would possibly look okay too if it fitted..."old skool" stylin'

I have waynewans's keyfob badges and love them. I also bought the R Logo for the center of the steering wheel but after seeing it in place it doesn't look right to me. It is also MK5 sized and needs some filler around the edges. If you do put something over the VW logo make sure its on solid, should the airbag ever deploy you don't want it nailing you in the head.

I'm going to try one of these. If I receive it and it doesn't look quite right, I'll put it under the hood instead...
