I believe that is for the light in the HVAC panel.

That would go to the light that belongs to the Casset holder. Just a bonus wire, good to tap into for lighting mods.

you should do a little searching and use military grade f4 tape for all your wiring needs you will never go wrong that way.

Thank you. I thought it might have gone to something like that. There is no cassette holder or bulb socket, just a small hole in the center console that looked like something went there but I didn't know what.

Looks like good stuff but a little overkill for what I'm doing. Thanks for the link, I will keep it in mind for future applications.

The light was in the Holder itself. If you remove the holder you took the light with it.

I was about to say "eff it" and pull the Digi 1 stuff for the euro 16v CIS set up I have had laying around. I went at the the Digi 1 one last time before I made up my mind and I guess that is all it took. IT RUNS! I am so stoked.

It is for sale..., that's what it is. It is some sort of German motorsport thing I think?

Well it is running; but badly. I'm a CIS-e Motronic guy so the Digi 1 is strange territory for me. I want to keep it but I haven't found a way to stop it from running insanely rich. The black cloud that comes out of this thing; people would mistake it for diesel.
That is job one: Stop the fuel spill which is this motor.
Job two is to try and figure out why the clutch cable is sawing through the fire wall.

Well I adjusted the CO Pot yesterday; it was way off to run the 16v. The ohms should be between 600-700( from what I found in the archives for the 16v), it was at 348 and that was causing it to run so rich.
Now there is no more gas pouring out of the exhaust. However the smoke is still there.
I have a feeling that the piston rings are toast. Today's task is a leakdown test to confirm this.

My project has now become a donor to get the Cabby on the road.
My pile that hasn't seen the road in 2 years.

      Because of this.

...So now this ugly thing will give new life to the Cabby.

      Friday started off like this...

      ...and ended with this.

Did a little more work today. (Sunday)
I striped the motor of its mounts, trans and accessories.

      Update:
I got a package with a few things; gauge cluster, hoorns and shift lever. Big thanks to Alicia (BeatBox_kid).

I took the cluster apart to clean it and roll back the mileage to match the car. The airbag is gone so I also removed the icon from the cluster. I just need to get new lights for it and back in it goes.

Thanks. I'm a MKII guy but this car is a for my future wife. I have never owned a MKI, so I'm learning as I go.

I have to speed up the progress; there are too many auto projects going on at the house so this one needs to hit the streets quick.

Airbag, yes. Drivers side only. The airbag wheel was long gone before I even picked up the car. I wouldn't have trusted it anyway.

Well, I haven't done much. I painted the starter and switched clutch disks from a 16v to an 8v.

Next on the list is to bolt the trans to the motor and clean clean clean.
