This might help with your wiring issues:
Well I adjusted the CO Pot yesterday; it was way off to run the 16v. The ohms should be between 600-700( from what I found in the archives for the 16v), it was at 348 and that was causing it to run so rich.
Now there is no more gas pouring out of the exhaust. However the smoke is still there.
I have a feeling that the piston rings are toast. Today's task is a leakdown test to confirm this.
I got a package with a few things; gauge cluster, hoorns and shift lever. Big thanks to Alicia (BeatBox_kid).
I took the cluster apart to clean it and roll back the mileage to match the car. The airbag is gone so I also removed the icon from the cluster. I just need to get new lights for it and back in it goes.
I have some room to work. My brother-in-law's Civic is on the road and out of my way.
Took everything out of this bucket,
and transfered it to this better roller he picked up.
When I picked up the Cabriolet, I wanted it to show at the Cult Classic. That means I have to get this thing on the road by Saturday night. How's that for pressure.
Please post some sort of motivation to help me get this thing done on time.

Well the car never got completed for the Cult Classic last week. The (new/other) motor is in and all wired up but I must missed something because it won't fire up. It has power and turns over fine but it won't come to life. Crap.
No more empty engine bay.

It made it aut tof the garage last night under its own power for the first time in months. It runs, but very badly. Now I know why everyone ditches the DIGI 1 for standalone. I'm going to work at it alittle before I throw in the towel for Megasquirt. With the aid of a friend, hopefully he can burn me a chip that will work.
well, keeping it on corrado digi1 is your first problem. it was designed for forced induction, so it's never going to run right, even with a custom chip. unless you plan on turboing it down the road, there is no good reason to keep it on digi1. my cheap suggestion: digi2 from a mk2. that's probably what i'm doing when i put the 16v in my cabby. i have megasquirt that was made for my 16v, but that's going in my rado. seriously, give digi2 a shot. it can be found cheap from a junkyard, & if you can't find it, i have a harness/ecu here
Well todays update is that it runs much better. A big to ValveCoverGasket over in the 16v tech forum with helping me sort that one out.
Next up is to get it through inspection. The car is legit but I have no idea what condition the cat is in from running badly for so long. Stay tuned; this may take a few attempts. It is a good thing that it is free in NJ.
So it has been a few weeks and there are some updates.
We have been enjoying the top down crusing so other things fell by the way side. It went to inspection and failed for emissions, it was running way to rich. I changed the timming and adjusted the CO-Pot so it should be good now. We will know when I get around to taking it back.
Two days ago the pedal cluster broke. The sleeve that holds the clutch cable broke. I'm waiting on the welder from down the street to make it all better for me. I was going to do it myself but the regulator on my welder broke. I'm hoping all goes well so it can make it to MKI Madness in a week.

Im real sad that I can't make it to mk1 madness, I hope you guys make it safe If the car doesnt pass inspection are you still planing on making the trip?
p.s. about the weeding being on h20. You now have an excuse to go to the beach every year for your aniversarys!
The car is going to Madness. Failing inspections in NJ don't really mean anything but a ticket and a reason to be pulled over.
As for the wedding, I didn't want it to fall on that weekend but I'm glad it did. Duel purpose weekend anniversary/car shows sounds good to me. The weekend of 9/11 for it just didn't feel right.
So I thought I had a great idea but after a little comparing and switching; it failed. I picked up a set of Corrado seats to use for the bases ( because they sit stupid low ). The plan was to put the black leather from the Cabby onto the Corrado base and put the OEM upper on the modded lower. I like the look of the stock seats but they sit to high so this was my answer. Too bad that after trying to get the Cabby cover on the Corrado base it came to light that the Corrado base is to long front to back. I guess I will have to deal with the grey Recaros until I find another option.
