It's online service maintenance... No planned actual DLC or any updates that we'll notice.

Have they ever planned to add bumpers/sideskirts to the game?
#5785
I heard they were going to add vehicle damage and NASCAR.

nearly 1/2 gigabyte update today. Fixes some stuff and possibly loads future tracks for their release, and the cars you can "win" from the 2012 GT Academy events.

A little coincidence that this patch released the day the FM4 Porsche DLC dropped. This is the 2nd or 3rd time these 2 developers have done this. lol
I'm significantly more interested in the FM4 DLC but I've read some good things about this GT5 (and some bad as well). Read that G27 users have better FFB, so I hope my Fanatec CSR gets this similar improvement.
Apparently the sound was tweaked, and botched...![]()

If I get home at a decent hour, hopefully not another 12hr day, I'll download and report my findings

I copped it, but everything seems the same. Though I did not hook up my wheels to see if there were any changes there
#5798
i did a few seasonal events after the update. Doesn't seem like much was changed for such a large update. They need to improve the physics, imo. Slamming hard on the brakes on a heavily banked stretch of track will have some affect on the straight-line handling, iirc. In this game it goes perfectly straight, seems like they may have done that for controller users.

anyone try the new seasonals? apparently the harder you make the race for yourself, using lower pp, the more credits you receive. So for this week it's a FF 430pp race. If you have 400pp you get more credits than if you have 430pp

hmm really? i did the other A-Spec one that was put up, not the 430pp one. i shall have to investigate ...
but to your point about the update, it does seem like most of it was fixing minor bugs in the game (that i basically never encounter) and updating the feedback for steering wheel setups (which i dont have)
#5801
i have a g27 that i use, i can't stand using the controller, and i didn't notice any difference in the FFB. I did a few seasonal events before the update and did a few afterwards. I'll do the new one and see if i notice any difference. If there is any, it's probably very subtle.

i did a few of the seasonal events and the final one pays 199,999 credits at 430pp, i used a mini cooper s bone stock at 388pp and got about 900,000 credits through the new bonus system. This is something i complained about when the game first released. IIRC the first Forza had a similar system where you won the race, got a bonus for clean driving or paid a penalty for car damage. This seems like a straight forward system to use for games of this type and the lack of any kind of system like this in GT5 is just another in a long list of oversights by Sony/PD/Kaz. But, reading the GT forums is pretty hilarious as a lot of the people think Kaz/sony/PD are gods for any changes/fixes/additions they make to the game.

anyone ever get the platinum?
i think i might go for it, all i really need to go is gold the vettel challenge and then grind for another 150 hours.
AND get 1000 cars...
i hope they keep the PP bonus races, they make a huge difference!

That alone is enough of a reason not to bother IMO, what a pain in the ass.
I fired it back up again earlier this week. Had a lot of fun in the Online lobbies around 470PP running my BTR on the Nurburgring. That's pretty much the only reason I will play anymore is to hit the 'Ring and Spa for a night.
#5806
i love how the vettel challenge is so hard. adds to the mystique, and obviously a huge fist bump when it's over.
i have never used the online races, just in game stuff.
the new seasonals can be done over and over! I used a mini-cooper S detuned to 139 hp and i got 108K XP and won by over 20 seconds. if it's the one with the type-r, you can run 1:58's and comfortably win.
thank god for that right hand uphill circle bend. the computer gives up 15 mph easy
i'm just going to keep removing HP and see how slow i can make it and win. this is going to make it way easy to grind to 40!
i really wish this game supported file time in the XMB. i have to have over 400 hours in this.![]()
#5807
well, i am winning with this setup now, and getting big points!

i got to level 35, i think i did the race about 25 times. only about 150 more times
easily the best way to get xp from what i can tell.
#5810
what were your final settings? I'll give that a shot.
