We've known about this car for a while but have been playing it close to the vest for a number of reasons. Earlier this month Audi of America took delivery of a German market TTRS coupe complete with 20-inch wheels, Recaro shell seats, R8 V10 carbon mirrors and more. This week they let a few magazines like AutoWeek test the thing at Willow Springs in CA.

Why bring the car? Internally we hear debate about the car is not dead. In fact, Audi of America staff would very much like to see it come over but a business case needs to be made and approval from Germany needs to happen in order for it to become reality. The TTRS was brought over for 'evaluation' and Audi of America's placing journalists in the car only helps make the case.

Alas, we weren't in California this week to try it but we have secured the car's use for the upcoming Carlisle Import Show that happens in Pennsylvania in May and have some special plans for our own writeup. In the meantime, live vicariously through AutoWeek as we will and hopefully there'll be a few more writeups from other mags very, very shortly.
