There was your first mistake going to Leavens... Not sure what's going on with the warranty, but I also took my car into Leavens for the body warranty and I didn't get a loaner either. Doesn't really make any sense because it is a factory warranty issue and you have to pay for a loaner from someone's fault.

Go to discount car rental, they seem to be fairly cheap. If you have an auto club, they may even give you a discount on the rental also.

Bc Leavens has absolutely the worst customer service I have ever seen. If you were in my situation, you would understand (especially if you had money and time tied up in something also).

your getting free work...as in not paid for...

    you know the saying..

.you get what you pay for?

kinda works the same with warranty work...the techs doing the work are barely paid for the job...so why invest time when its not paying.... JUST SAYING

Well it's not my problem they're getting paid less. The shop or dealer is the one paying less for the work, so why does the customer get screwed over then. There is ways on saving money by not screwing up the final product in the end. They must have a load of money into my car for trying to fix their own mistakes.

I do **** in my backyard with a hell of a lot better quality... And I'm not a PROFESSIONAL!

BTW, there was work I had to pay for on the car because it wasn't covered under the warranty... AND GUESS WHAT... They still did a poor job!

What I would like some help with is getting a bit more power out of my 90hp car. Going from the sporty, feels great in the seat of the pants 2.5L inline 6 revving to 5k BMW. To the not even close to being fun TDI, this is a tough pill to swallow. I don't want a noisy fire breathing car that's going to pave the road with soot. (a little smoke would be nice) I'd like a little more power and tq. but want to keep the diesel reliability, and somewhat quiet highway noise level of the stock car.

Here is the task, $1000 budget MAX. From personal experience what mods have you done to a TDI that fit the bill? I'll use my iphone dyno to see what each mod does for the HP.
    Welcome,

I have a 2001 TDI, luckily I bought the car with the mods already installed, I have known the car since the owner bought it new and i bought it off of him when he moved to the US.

Your budget should cover injectors and a chip but be warned you will need to upgrade your clutch almost immediately after you do these mods. The stock clutch just doesn’t cope with the added torque, I guarantee you that it will slip every time you punch it.

If you are doing a chip I suggest RocketChip, my car has an Upsolute chip and the power is awesome but the delivery isn’t very linear, it hits hard at lower RPM but plateaus at higher revs, the RocketChip chip has a more linear power delivery. The stock pump will give you little smoke, I added an 11mm pump a couple of months ago and it helps with power up top but has added more smoke. You will also need a boost controller, it helps keep boost spikes under control… BTW my car runs at 18psi. My injectors are Bosio PP 520 which work well with the stock turbo and maybe even a slight turbo upgrade. These cars redline at around 4000rpm so intakes don’t give any power gains, unless you are making big power a drop in k&n filter is more than enough. These cars have an issue with intake gunk where soot and oil mix in the intake manifold and covers your intake almost to the point where it is completely plugged, remove your intake hose at the egr and check to see if it needs cleaning, I plugged my EGR and the check engine light came on right away.

If I see you at the meet I can take you for a spin to see what these gains feel like.

    pic of gunk

I'd go with what Wario said.. aka PokTROkt. Simple but the right upgrades will give you better then a gasser power with maintaining your fuel economy..

I tend to think of it as a 2-door A2/B2.5, which I think helps me keep in mind how ridiculous it can be at times.

hey all long time no post just wanted to let you people know that i have just purchesed a mk2 (1990) jetta that i will be taking the diesel engine(and related componets) from to do a conversion on my 75 westy. the car is drivable but not in good shape i will have pics in a week when it comes to my house i plan to take what i need sell any thing else thats good and scrap the carcus if you want any mk2 stuff let me know and i will tell you if this car has any thing worth while right off the bat it has a sunroof with a aftermarket wind deflector, grill looks faded but good, head and tail lights are intact and are in good condition for age, passenger doors and fender looked good, has spoiler, 14" steelies with goodish tires, trany worked well for the 4 blocks i drove it. when i get this car in a week it wont be around for long so let me know if your interested in any thing cheers!

Bring on the hate. This one is going to be more stock than the last, cept for the lowerage and rollers...

May be able to convince me of an ABA block with an RV head, but that's about it...

That's the one. Its a weird spot, the rocker underneath it is mint, but the 2'x1' area is nasty. It was a small dent that manifested because he took a grinder to it and 1/4" of bondo. I got an excellent bodyshop that can tackle this.
