I parked in the Mk2 section (because there are no well-defined sections and the last year I went [2007] I was apparently in the wrong section), sitting in my car as judges walked by... i didn't want to disturb them so I didn't ask them to judge me... and off they went.

I love the show but I am one of the people who agree "call it on-track exhibition" if that's all it's going to be.

or maybe its just time you stop taking credit for a car you did not build.... just saying

haha. good one. so my boy changes everything on the car, and you all claim it ain't his

next your gonna say because vw built it, it ain't his either?

whatever your 'opinion' is, yelling out to cars passing by at the show is lame, f*cked, and completely NOT what dustoff is about.

This year was a little more out of sorts then the last couple of years, and something that I assume will be addressed. It really was something we didn't expect, because of the weather.

That, and the lack of volunteers didn't help either.

I think they were just looking through your car to see if there was rogaine for beards inside. I think they thought Your facial hair helped you with scene points.

Hey, no car talk. This is the "Bitch about Dustoff" thread. Look at the signatures. Must be rally important to him. Kinda weird a Mk5 driver would be like that.

sorry i dont wear girls pants and think im trendy like mk3 owners. I apparently haven't reached that level of "mad car club rep" yet. I was going to apologize for being an ass earlier too because i heard from justin that you guys have absolutely no association nor do you know the guy that was giving us ****. But if your going to continue to be a fagot then I can keep being an *******. Kinda weird that someone from rhode island would be such a tool.

    1. You don't start judging untill about 12:30, 1:00 and your all done around 3:00. Wow all day huh... Judges should know what to expect when they volunteer to judge a car show of 750+ cars. (I suggest a ballot system for judging in the future)

    2. Why do you have this judging criteria on your web site if your not going to follow it?

    Judging Criteria

    Interior (10 pts.), Exterior (10 pts.), Wheels/Tires/Suspension (10 pts.), Engine/Power (10 pts.), Overall Theme (10 pts.)

    3. No one pays $20 just to park on the track, if they know they will not win its called club parking. you don't even have to be part of the club.

    4. A mod list doesn't work with your judges either, I've had one for the last 3 years and they still just walk past it.

    5. People are people what can you do about it.

Just so it's clear I'm not complaining, I had a good time yesterday, I just don't like being lied to, and I'm giving the people who are new or afraid to step up a voice.

    1. Only 4 people volunteer'd to judge this year, maybe people like you should stop complaining and volunteer to help out.

    2. You can tell how a car is going to when judged by that criteria within the first 30 seconds of seeing it.

    3. Not everyone is in a club, infact i know plenty of people who showed without a single intention of winning.

    4. It doesnt say a modlist is required.

    5. here ill give your car a number system judge like your looking for.
if you want, you can pm me and ill explain the deductions

    interior - 6
    exterior - 5
    wheel/tire/suspension - 4
    engine - 5
    overall theme - 3

if you want, send me your address and ill mail you a trophy if it will make you feel better.

but in all serious, stop bashing the judging, shows arent about the trophies.

heres a tip for next year, maybe change something on your car that will make it stick out.

Do you even know where I was parked?

Atleast my front lip, and bumper were attached correctly and I wasn't leaking oil/power steering fluid all over the track!

I'm mister big shot I'm on air with wheels, I like you actual ride height dude.

I was only giving constructive criticism for the show, like maybe if the way they judge is a pain in the ass do it differently but don't claim to do it another way.

Be proactive and, if you know only 4 people are volunteering, either cancel judging, or restructure the judging system in advance to soemthing those 4 people can handle... what was the deadline for volunteering, the day before? They must have known in advance that they were going to be short-staffed.

I'm not really mad, it just sucks that when I heard the announcement, I waited by my car from noon-2:30 waiting for a judge.

We take pride in selecting judges that are knowledgable, and can recognize and appreciate the level of work it takes to get cars to the level they are at.

Quote, originally posted by nothing-leaves-stock »

-judging....sorry guys, half the cars there wouldn't even place anywhere. thanks for paying and showing but in each class theres always only going to be a few cars that will place. also while walking around, helping park cars, and seeing what comes in...your cars are unoffically judged weather you know it or not.

Great point Josh, while official judging starts at 12:00, the field of judges are reviewing the cars starting first thing in the morning as they all roll in, just like Josh said, at which time the cars of interest are noted, and then targeted in the field.

While going through the field all cars are considered and looked at.

Once the judges choose their picks for each class, they are then scored, and discussed, usually coming to a decision, and often resulting in a tally of scores to decide the winner.

The cars that win, are the total package. Interior, exterior and engine are all done to some extent.

These guys have a difficult job, and we understand that not evenyone will be pleased with the results, but if you were to take a look at each of the winners throughout the field, you would undoubtedly recognize the high level of though, craftsmanship and attention to detail each winning car has.

There was no need to do any of that. Sure there were less volunteers than we would have hoped for, but the numbers didn't effect the quality. Those who did volunteer, stepped up, and did an exceptional job.

i have nothing against you but your beating a dead horse about the judging man, who cares if you win or not at a show, thats not all its about.

good one with the bumper, lip, and oil leak... none of those were an issue until a lovely seekonk speedbump did work on my lip and pan.

and yes i do believe i know where you were parked, is this not you next to me?

this stuff always amuses me. when you pull in to a field of 25-30 cars, of which there can be 2 winners you better bring your A game.

wheels and coils aren't going to get you a trophy, it's just the nature of showing.

and contrary to what the interwebz says, having a rusty hood and a bunch of goofy sh!t on your roof, doesn't make the car show worthy, so I'm not surprised that the judges walked by a lot of stuff.

rather than complaining about the judging, and acting like some sort of victim, go look at the list of winners, look at their cars, I mean really look at them, and I'm willing to bet that you would agree whole heartedly with the judges.

no one denies that every car in the field is someone's pride and joy, and has hours upon hourse of their blood sweat and tears in it, but at the end of the day, someone just took it to that level.

if you really want to know what set this car apart from the rest of the field, the attention to detail in the bay, and in the air setup, and the way the theme was carried throughout the car.

the mannequin head was just creepy.

it was a tough decision was between this car and Mike Gibney's beautiful green MK4.

I've seen this car in person, he also won broke.down 2009's MKIV class, its a total package, its on air but even then stanced to perfection, resprayed a dope color, super clean inside and out and otherwise a pretty chill kid.. I've only really talked to him once, randomly but he was really laid back..

When the MK4 GTI first came out there were a bunch of random colors that they didn't make a whole lot of. I saw a Futura Yellow one in Gloucester a couple of weeks ago. Probably the second one I have EVER seen.

You might be right, if it was resprayed maybe some other stuff was added to the mix. I wasnt flaming you or anything, I am honestly curious now too.

actually I believe you guys may be correct, dug through some of his old created topics and found this

back when it was a standard MKIV, still orange.. looks alot better now though..haha

And just confirmed with him, it is original, regardless that orange pops more than black/silver/grey/white
