    Volkswagen has announced that it will launch its first production electric vehicles in 2013. Electric cars that are driven emissions-free will revolutionise mobility over the mid-term, especially in urban areas. However, Volkswagen is not just thinking of individual mobility here, but is also considering its possibilities as a vehicle in public transportation. That is why Volkswagen is now showing – in a world premiere at the Hanover Trade Show – just how a large-scale production taxi driven by an electric motor might look. The “Milano Taxi” concept car that has been created is a city MPV tailored to the needs of taxi drivers and their passengers in its many innovative details such as a swivel-sliding door that opens in a forward direction and customisable taxi touchscreens...

    In the article it mentions New York . . . I'd love to see the day that there are VW taxi's driving around NYC

    New York already has Jetta TDI's, not many but enough to be seen on a semi-regular basis....

    Sure.....make us sweat getting our hands on the Golf R, deny us the Scirroco III, don't commit for the Polo GTI, but plan on sending a TAXI WTF VWoA???

    but... A taxi that can only take 2 passengers? After the first picture I was expecting a second row of seating.

    oh yea like maybe when oil money dosnt run this country..     what's the deal though with a 2-seat taxi. i feel like taxi cab drivers would not be so excited about this.

    Im strangely attracted to this car! Maybe now i can play with the years ive had makeing 80+mph RC cars and apply it to a 1:1 scale beast . Anyone know what type of motor is useing or its specs ?

    I would definitely take more cab rides in NYC if these where around.
