Oh, and just to add...The rating for LM was from a year ago (April 10th, 2009). I'm thinking that a new one should be due soon. The rating for NGM is from March of this year.

Anyone have any experience with them? Since Hurricanes Ike, Rita, Katrina, Wilma, etc. over the last few years, most major insurance companies are no longer writing home policies on the Gulf Coast. Allstate, State Farm, Farmers, and the like are pulling out.The wife and I have a contract on a new house and we close in June. Liberty Mutual is offering us a kickass policy and price; basically $850 for the year for $225K coverage on the dwelling$125K on interior items w/ 1% deductible all around.
AM Best rates Liberty Mutual as a "negative" on their financial outlook, but the year before they were "stable".
My current Allstate broker is offering to write a policy for me with a company called NGM; a subsidiary of Main Street Insurance. I've never heard of either one. AM Best rates NGM as stable. But the premium is over $1300, with $200K dwelling, $125K on interior items, with a 1% deductible on things like wind and hail, and a 2% deductible on hurricanes.
The Liberty Mutual deal sounds too good to be true.
Both Liberty Mutual and NGM are rated "A".
Any thoughts or wisdom to impart?

I used LM for my car and for my condo - walls in policy is $400. We use Farmers for the exterior of the building because LM doesnt do condo exterior (in SF at least). No problems - good rate - nice agent - speedy claims department.
No compaints.
