I just picked up a new iPad 64gb with wifi. Now I'm trying to figure out miwi so i can use my iPhone 4's 3g as a connection for my iPad. (:

Edit: MiWi 4.0 was ridiculously easy to use. I'm really psyched about this iPad.

so google just released an official iPhone app for Google Voice. If I setup a free google voice account, and i start using this app on my iPhone to make calls or texts, I am no longer using my ATT minutes/SMS, correct?

Anyone with an iPhone have this app? I don't have an iPhone, just wondering if anyone tried this out and care to share their thoughts.

There was a rash of blog posts on the day after the app was released, demonstrating how wonky it is. In theory, it's great. In the demo video, it's great. In reality, it isn't (and likely can't be) great in most real-world situations.

I recently found out that a kid I went to high school with was one of the main developers for that. I downloaded the free version and all it will do is reverse any text it finds as a demo. You have to pay for actual language translation.

Looking for an app that will remind me of birthdays from my contact list. Wish I could just set an alert in iOS as it seems simple enough.

Why not just set them up as an event on your calendar?

I need a good chat client that supports GoogleTalk. Meebo is a piece of crap, I hate it.

Interesting that I never noticed before but iOS automatically does this for you. Too bad you can not set a reminder for the day before or something though. Its not quite like making the event manually, but it does show up on the calendar. Problem for me at least is that I do not check my calendar very often.

Yes you can. Open the calendar item and set the alert- you can do it up to 2 days before the event.

Not on mine. Shows a little present icon and tells you who its for, but does not allow you to do anything to the event.

I just tried that, added my wife's birthday to her contact info and it's like you said. I guess it's because it's not a real calendar entry.

I guess you'll just have to create calendar entries if you want reminders. It even has you put the year they were born in for the contact entry but it doesn't just do the math and show how old they are, that's lame.

Related to birthdays, iCal doesn't do well with all-day events overall. I've tried having my phone remind me about all-day events like this, and I get woken up when the clock strikes midnight. It'd be far better if the app had a default midday reminder time for all-day events and birthdays.

If I'm honest, though, I really should be looking in my calendar at least once a day. But I don't.

I'm looking for an app that lets me turn on/off my radios without having to go into the settings menus.

Just like an on/off for the cell, wifi and bt radios. Free would be great, but I'll pay a few bucks if it's a good app.

      EDIT: I'm not jailbroken.

      SBsettings if you're jailbroken.

For any cyclists out there, imapmyride is pretty cool. Uses the GPS to log your route, and also tracks speed, time etc. There's also an ANT+ iphone adapter so you can use cadence/speed/heart rate sensors. It can also be uses for, running and hiking too.

Kinda surprised no one posted Dynolicious yet. It uses the accelerometer to measure your 0-60 time, later g's, HP, what-have-you. A bit pricey though

Fram Gas Cubby - Keeps track of your service and gas expenses. I only use it for the gas part. Gives you an average MPG, logs all your expenses, logs fill up locations

Skobbler - Free GPS. It's not bad, I think it's better then the AT&T navigator

Flashlight - Always comes in handy in a dark room. For pre- iphone 4 owners, it just turns the screen white, and for those of you with the 4, it uses the LED, which is a million times better

      For games:
      Fruit Ninja
      Warship
      Robokill

Just picked up a great app while on business travel; CardMunch

You take pictures of business cards, the app transcribes it to a basic CRM program, then allows you to instantly send out invites to that person to join you on LinkedIn, add the contact to your Native contacts app, or send an email to that person. And you can still view the photo of the original card.

And the price is right.... free
