Audi's been making some updates to its German market configurator this week including the addition of facelifted TTS and TT models along with the new RS 5. Exploring these sections is always interesting as a show of what is available in Europe and what may soon be available for other markets like the USA. Surprisingly, the configurator revealed new bodywork for the TT S-line models.
When the facelifted TT was revealed several weeks ago ahead of the AMI Leipzig motor show, it seemed most obvious that previous S-line bodywork as standard was the basis of a facelift that also included new grille inserts and some trim. One might have included that all TTs would be effectively S-line exterior as Audi did late in the B7 A4's production cycle but unlike the elder A4 the TT benefits from totally different front and rear bodywork for its S-car equivalent. In as much, Audi appears to have swapped in TTS bumpers for facelifted S-line models to further upgrade its 'Sport lite' setup from standard TTs. Further, the new S-line appears to differ further from the TTS through use of a standard TT grille, less aluminum brightwork at the front, rear and single outlet exhausts at each corner as opposed to dual.
We were surprised to see this change as Audi had made no mention of it in its initial product reveal. In as much we've contacted Audi of America to confirm that the US market would also see the TTS bumpers used on S-line models. AoA tells us they're looking into it and we'll pass that information along just as soon as we're able.
For reference, we've posted equivalent TTS coupe photos below so you can see the change. Follow the link at the very bottom to the Audi Germany Configurator where you can play with the various options packages and colors to further envision the 2011 TT.
