I don't see a way of doing that automatically. It seems that you'll need to click the "go advanced" button in the quick reply window, or scroll to the bottom and double click the "+ Reply To Thread" button.

The PMs popping up in the current window vs. new window seem to be working fine now. I'm not sure why that wasn't working earlier.

The font in the signature area is too big. It should be the same size as the font in the post text.

Is the speed going to increase in the near future? It is painfully slow for me. Thanks for all the hardwork guys

Any tally on the number of regular members who've not logged in since the switch? If you thought ZF was expensive, wait till everyone drops off and the advertisers follow suit.

I just noticed that in no longer shows how many days we have been a member in our profiles. It's not a big deal at all since posts/ppd is an approximate number, but it was kinda fun to know. Is that an easy addition?

Still running into a bunch of pages that should be 301 redirects that are just showing up as 404s.
(Anthony, I sent you an .htaccess patch via PM that should take care of 95% of these.)

Also, in terms of speed, there is a bunch of "low hanging fruit" that can be done to speed things up that I'm sure VMG is planning on in the near future.

nice work getting the site up and running with so few kinks in such a little time.

    Just found this out:

    http://www.big-boards.com/

VWvortex WAS the 15th most visited online forum, and the #1 automotive forum in terms of posts. Watch that position plummet.

And for all those not familiar with Vbulletin, just click on any of those other sites that are serviced by VB, they're just as slow as we are, and have been up for years.

    Personally, I can't wait!

I also noticed that clicking the settings link and the notifications link bring you to the same page that displays new messages and subscribed topics. There are also easily accessible private message links and the subscriptions under quick links. Could some of the redundancy be cut out?

while I'm sure this has already been said, I'd like to see other people's cars on the sidebar again.

And will there be a firevortex for this?

That's one of the things that is on the list of issues to be taken care of.

Rich already has some ideas, but he's said that he's going to wait until the overall design / functionality of the way Vortex is going to use vB is finalized before he puts any work into it.

Could you bring back the camera icon on the list of threads page? It's especially useful in the classifieds section. Overall I think the site look great! :embeer:

I love the n00b thing. Ah, you guys still have some sense of humor left.

Did you get some sleep over the weekend?

ps - kill inline reply if you can. Rather lose that in favor of more PPP. You know, VMG is probably the only forum big enough out there to push some of this stuff back onto vB. Use the force, Anthony! :p

    Hi,

First off, thanks for all the work to bring things back online. It's much appreciated.

I would like to request that the link behavior of the Subscriptions be set to open in a new window, like the former Watched Topics. My "workflow", if you could call it that, was to use the watched topics as a jumping off point and have it always open. Now I need to remember to middle click links in there to bring them up in a new tab.

    Thanks,
    -Brett.

    Ditto on above!

Also, the redirector software should work for all links, not jsut threads. Forum listings were also linked by offsite pages and will all be broken now. Same with the old zeromain page

    1) We need the Active Topics link/page again. This is/was great for seeing what threads were being followed/posted in the most, and gave us the ability to bounce through other forums very easily.

    2) Can we change the number of posts viewed per page? Threads are multiplying like rabbits - a 16-page thread in the Corrado forum jumped to 37-pages after the switch-over. A thread in the Tri-State Forum went from 600+ pages to 1600+ pages. This makes it a bear to go back and check things out.

Overall...you guys are doing a stellar job of making it look almost exactly like the old setup - kudos :thumb

no indication that a thread is subscribed.
"thread tools | subscribe to thread" doesn't change to "unsubscribe" for a thread that's already been subscribed to.

now that the threads are soooo many pages, we have an issue viewing our NEK thread in the proper order. When you click on the last page, it doesn't bring up the absolute last page. It shows that there are several new pages after, but they cannot be viewed. I had to switch my post order to reverse to view any new posts, but this makes viewing the rest of the forums a huge pain......Please fix......

    Glad the tex is back.

I think it looks very similar to the old setup. Do not like the forum choice page. Very hard to determine what subcategory to choose but its probably just the new look. The Border around the post header could be slimmed down a little bit to be closer in size to the reply button. I would like that border to be a bit darker if possible as well. Its a bit light and my crappy TN monitor makes it disappear at certain viewing angles. Other color issues is the quick reply border does not match the vortex blue from the reply button. Not sure why there is a +reply button at the top of the thread either. Seems a bit redundant as is the other reply buttons but I am sure that is being looked at. Thanks for the hard work guys.

    Anthony,

I have found a page mis-match on our roll call thread in the New England forum. When looking at any pages on the site, including in your watched topics, it lists the last page currently as 4820. The last active (current) page is actually page 4773. So any attempt to load a page past 4773 results in this message:

    The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

    * This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.
This also includes press the LAST>> button after the page count icons.

It has been like this for about 24hours. IE7 shows the same result as Firefox.

Up until now, just getting the forums up and working again in some semblance of a readable format has been top priority. Now the team will have a little more time to spend on other functionality like you're talking about.
