I noticed that in replies within the thread that the text overruns the box it is supposed to fit in (does this makes sense?)

Yes, at the top of the thread there is a drop down box called "thread tools" and you can susbcribe from there.

Hah - that's just the default censor list. I will update it and remove words that don't need to be censored.

This will change later today... I have to recreate the advertiser "groups". Those didn't transfer from ZeroForum into vB.

I understand that it would be a huge server burden to save custom avatars, but could the possibility of linking to an off-site avatar be entertained? I hate having to choose from such a limited range of avatars, especially when I use the same one of every other forum I am a member on.

I would think that there has got to be some way the old Notepad entries could be retrieved, at least as a one-time event. I mean, that data isn't gone... perhaps someone really clever could write a little script that goes through an old backup of the database and emails each account's email-account-on-file the entire contents of their Notepad files, or something like that.

I had seven years worth of random cool stuff saved in there.

Huge feature request: On ZF, you were able to click on the username of the last person responded, and it would take you to the last post. Now it is a little arrow icon, and the name takes you to the profile.
Maybe not so huge, but it is one of those oh crap clicks that tick me off.

And everything needs to be shrunk down. its like going from legos to duplo. But I think you already know that.
Is the motive mag portal gonna be canned? I preferred the look of that skin the best.

I've noticed longer posts typed as one line can have text actually over the right border line.

There are some minor layout issues with IE7 (which I can't change here at work).

Options at top right don't align correctly

Random white/grey bars inline with posts.

While the format and general boxiness of everything still makes my eyes hurt, the absolute most important thing
is that the old URL format be retained (or at least backwards compatible) so that links to old posts both from within VWV threads,
and from elsewhere on the web continue to function. If the link format changes, then VWV history will disappear from the
search engines, break every FAQ etc... That includes the search URL format as sometimes people posted
links to searches with keywords in the URL

In terms of look and feel, I'd suggest striving to make everything look as absolute close to the old format initially, just to
get people back into the comfort zone, before adding new features. For instance, don't need stuff like "Blog this Post" right now
especially when it's constantly in transition.

On a positive note, maybe I can hold out hope that the new forum search will be less idiotic than the old one.
Old one would search for a given keyword across all forums, grab the first 1000 rows of the results,
then filter that result set by forum id, which would then throw away the vast majority (if not all) of
those 1000 rows, leaving you with virtually nothing. Ironically, it meant the more popular a topic was
(like "intakes") the harder it was to find anything about them, specific to your model of car, forcing
people to post the same topic again, making the search problem worse.

BTW, is there some place to change the general display font size? The new format
seems to have gone for a small, smaller, smallest font theme. Noticed I'm having to
sit a foot closer to the monitor to read anything. If it can't be changed, I'd suggest defaults
that are a little more readable. Not everyone has young eyes any more.

This should be easy for VMG if they setup a simple apache rewrite rule - the same thread id is used so nothing difficult about it.

I know Jamie (or jebglx) said the forums will be changed back from vb.forums.vwvortex.com to just forums.vwvortex.com, but right now the link on the www.vwvortex.com page to the vortex forums is broken and very annoying (since I don't have the new forum bookmarked).

I'm just going to suggest that this new forum look exactly like the old one, and not suck to use. It went from A+++ to a Z, at best.. Sorry, just not digging this setup. The PM's are too weird and hidden, they don't pop up and alert you like the old system.

I am glad however that it is still around. But it's also a bitch to find. I had to have someone link me.

Off topic forum? You will gain a lot more traffic (at the expense of having to police the forum more to cut down on violations of usage).

A simple suggestion, but please add a link at the bottom of the page that allows you to return to the thread lising page.

ie: in the car lounge, it would say >Return to The Car Lounge. eliminated the need to scroll all the way to the top of the page.
