Moveover, Dude! Search, search, search!!! This was done like two months ago Man. Don't be that guy that runs around saying, 'let's see 'em' OK? Go to thesamba if you want to roll around in that sort of thing. This place is for former Jetta and Golf owners who want to kick it old skool.

Now I get it, y'all have just never seen a Volkswagen engine before

Ignoring hasn't working so far so now I'm asking dear God, let this stupid thread die already or come out of the closet already and admit you need to be over in thesamba with all the other wide-eyed, mouth-breathing 15 year olds going around with the 'post 'em ups' constantly

Get out and build something already. Need inspiration, there's this new fangled thing called a 'search engine'-->bing, google, crazy isn't it?

What's that, "what have I done?" Hmm, let me see, '66 bus with IRS, fuel injection conversion, airbags, hydraulic clutch, disk brakes/Mercedes rims, Super-1600
      '73 bug with roll-cage, Porsche brakes/aftermarket MC/hydraulic clutch...

Oh yeah, I build bikes and wagons for all my nieces and nephews from the ground up, too.

hey jade take a break......you don't have to be a prick every day of your life. so what if he wants to see engines, and so what if there's engines on the samba, alot of people who are on here don't know about the samba. and even if so, not everyone post on the forums either. so you did a hyd setup, and some porsche brakes, big deal so now what after the germans have been doing that for nearly 40 years you think you're something to go bashing other peoples' threads? if you dont have anything to contribute to the post, stay out. & dont go breaking your arm off patting yourself on the back about those brakes
and since I must practice what I preach
Pats Speed Shop and some of the over 50 engines I built at my shop. -she is sold now. The type 4 went to Riverside CA via freight truck. from WV.

Please tell me you're joking It's not like this part of the forum is just blowing up.
I think it can stand a few new posts once in a while.

      >>hey jade take a break......you don't have to be a prick every day of your life. so what if he wants to see engines, and so what if there's engines on the samba,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I've been too busy actually doing something to my cars to respond. You don't need to call me a prick you jackwipe, Plynch. You want to think I come off as being better than other people and call me a snob, that's your shallow interpretation. I'm not ashamed of anything I've said. I work my butt off at work and at home to actually put the time and effort in to my projects so they turn out right and actually finished, if that makes me better than others--so be it.

I never said I had an original idea either, I'm not really sure where you got that. 'That was done by the germans 40 years ago.' So what, at least I'm trying. Posting pictures of your T4, is this where I'm supposed to say goody too shoes for you and that's been done before (you obviously want recognition like everyone else does)?? I love your picture of those rusty bugs, does that take talent to collect old cars or something--I don't get it. You're saying drum brakes and carburators are better than 4 pots and standalone or that someone has to be the 'first' to be able to use new technology?? I used to have a shop too, you think you're special?

I was really hoping this forum would see some integration of the water-cooled trends into the old air-cooleds (if there's any doubt vortex is predominantly a water-cooled website, check out the other 99 Audi, VW, Skoda, etc. forums on here). Something different like Detroit rims on a bus or an FSI swap into a bug, etc. I can see now people like you Plynch and others are vehement about keeping all the newbies to at best a 1980s standard of styling and early 1960s technology. I got news for everyone else, there's usually a better answer out there you just have to be willing to not accept the easy answer:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XvjVvFdMIY

I got every right in the world to say when a post is dumb or been done before (several times mind you), and this one is both.

Just my .02 on this(as if it matters)

I've never been a fan of the samba..bunch of elitist pricks and the site is freaking complicated as hell(usually browsing from my blackberry) sure seeing a link to a build thread is neat from time to time but people around here have a different mindset and just seem more open minded

We're all here because we love these damn air cooled beasts...If someone wants to start a different picture thread then let them. The slammed thread and bugs and babes ones are neat but they are mostly visual things. You ripped on the guy for not searching but then posted pictures of a brake setup??? Its an engine thread. Let's see what you've got making those brakes work

Don't have any shots of my motor as the car is still in storage but I'll be sure to post once I see the car again

Jade, I'm sorry I'm not here to argue with you. just giving you hell for jumping on the guy, this forum is pretty slow compared to the one I usually read- A4 B5 Audi- that thread moves- so if someone is actually posting well then thats good in my book... and those are restoration cars, thats brown primer- NOT RUST.... fwiw. and I didnt collect them, I only owned 1 and its in the garage, those are customers cars.... on with engine pics please!. p.s.^ very nice functional look on that one... I like function over chrome.

so typical the way these forums are these days...no matter if it "samba","cal-look" or even here...,it's seems to go in the earlier direction to much these days..though he does have apoint, where there is too many threads for the simple fact that guys just don't wanna get out and get experienced...some are just looking to post something andget a bigger post count i guess.

Dude seriously who cares if the guy creates a thread thats been done? Dont like it dont click.
Get over yourself. I see **** on here all the time I dont like and unless someone ASKS for an opinion
I generally keep it to myself. One mans trash is another mans treasure. yeah a fat turbo setup with stand alone would be sick but alot of these guys are working on a budget or are purists who want to keep it old school. So what?
How does that affect you or your project??? With that said these are some pretty good examples of both on this thread so Ill call it a win.. Id post a pic of mine but Im sure we all know what a 1200sp looks like!!

yeah it was a really old post anyways...

he isn't a moderator so his point is mute.

and it ISN'T a place for former "water coolers to kick it old school"...it's a place where air cooled vw's are talked about and watched not a new migration place hence "air-cooled forum"...just because it's vortex doesn't mean crap...I know more air cooled guys that haven't even driven a watercooled let alone an air cooled car...and they are here quite often.

but yet real different than the samba vintage guys for sure...little over the top over there!!

air cooled is a totally different world than the H2O crowd...good and bad...lots of different folks make up both interests...and air cooled guys have their moment too especially about "keeping it original".
...trust me, i've seen it all over the last 20yrs and it's super cool that a guy wants to sell or put away his water car and grab an air blower...but the die hards, well they are EVERYWHERE!

      so welcome to the darkside!

Thanks.. when I had my turbo Corrado I also had a 68 Baja, but my Corrado obsession at the time took up all of my energy.. Now that she is long gone I picked up another bug because of all the potential. everyone has on opinion but inthe end its your money and your car and we should all do what we like. But if you ask others what they think abou tit be prepared. The old school guys hate my bug, they say its too low and that shaving the door handles was stupid.. whatever. I like it and I think we all have our place. It is funny how guys like us that will modify and customize can still appreciate the resto guys but its not usually reciprocated. To each their own I say..

the difference between samba andd here...very strict on the "real" deal over there for sure, but some dudes know their s--t!!

here..it's a lot more laid back and more acceptable to do this a "little different"....yeah there are some oddities but pretty much all good!

looking at this thread gives me more&more motivation to keep working n my motor.
i'm stuck at a goddamn standstill and cant continue. one of my cylinders is seized to the piston.. ive tried tapping it (the other 3 came out that way) filling it with penetrating oil and let it sit, did nothing. i'm going to try heating it up tomorrow and maybe it'll work.

in case it doesnt... any other method you guys know of?
