    old update
I placed the syncro coilovers on the rear trailing arm. This is a photo of the coilovers at the highest level

If you haven't noticed the rear breaks are eurospec big break kit. That now have to go

I was always wondering the difference between the rear struts on synchro vs rear beam

I did, my post was just a comment on that. It wasn't a question about what the difference was.

    update
most people have used the rear passat axles and cut it 10mm to fit the rear. But I only had the haldex axles from the TT. I was told that these solid axles cannot be cut short because VW heat treats them. So the machine shop made shorter shafts from me with a set of hollow front axles.
These will be my spare set. DSS will make a custom set for this application capable to hold 500AWD

I have never messed with them, but I am going out on a limb to say that this sounds suspect to me. All VW axles are heat treated at the spline ends. Even if the entire axle was heat treated, I am not sure why that would prevent you from shortening. Might prevent you from being able to cut easily on a lathe, but nothing a fiber cut of wheel wouldn't be able to do. Then make a proper splice with a machined press fit insert then weld. Perhaps I am missing something.

No, your arent S....I was also understood that all the OE axles can be shortened too.....

Hanz (my machinist wizard) said he just needs to see the axles/prop shaft, and stated "most likely yes".

I guess it has to do with the capabilities of the machine shop/machinist.

BUT...DSS axles arent bad either and I hear they have done a few of these awd sets.

VRT are you plus suspension? or G60? If you stated elswhere I apologize for not finding it...

The hollow front sets can be done but the solid rears cannot. DDS said the same thing. They will make a new set not cut my old set.

I haven't forgotten about this project just been trying to get some of the odd parts together for conversion.
Had these made for the rear cross beam

Taken the idea from Phatvr6 build thread

Have you fitted the Rallye rear pan yet? If so any pics? I'm stuck on one at the moment because the Corrado frame rails are narrower than the Golf

Cool thanks. I haven't been able to find that thread since the great Zeroforum explosion

That actually shows the frame rails where I've got stuck so I might be able to figure it out now
