im glad someone else gets to chuckle about that flat black 944. that thing is a ****ing pile.

the original bagelsmith spot he's moving out of because the landlord tried to double his rent to 15,000/mo or something equally absurd. Theyre ok, but i still prefer Bricktown in LIC if i need a bagel fix.

Yeah lots of places are getting priced off of Bedford. Whatever, the 3rd wave Williamsburg residents are lame anyway. Let the yuppies and tourist have their DuaneReade and Starbucks.

That's why I moved the hell away from that street. I had a great space, I just got tired of being able to leave my apartment and take a leisurely stroll to having to battle my way through slack jawed tourist and frat boys.

I fear the day when Bushwick gets white enough for tourist to start wandering over.

As for Bedford, the deli on n6th had to close down for that same reason..tried to double the rent.

And Bushwick is trending that direction....just look at bed sty....yuppies are all over.

The all natural vitamin shop by Kings Pharmacy was forced to move to South 2nd as well.

I can deal with yuppies, but I'll be damned if I will put up with tourist.

Wyckoff used to be a not so nice place to walk down late at night when I first started hanging out at my friends' loft. Now there's a 24 hour natural grocery store, coffee shop, well-reviewed restaurant all within a block from the Jefferson stop.

This is the future of every neighborhood that a subway line runs through. In ten years, I bet the Dekalb stop will be the new Bedford Ave and so on down the line.

That's why I moved from Bushwick to over by the navy yard last year. Too many college kids.... parking became insane, etc.

Where I am now doesn't have enough residential property to grow all that much, and it lets me have a much bigger garage.

Bushwick had a proper community for years, but now with all the growth in east Williamsburg (Morgan stop) it's turning into the same type of college town that Williamsburg has become.

It makes sense for the Morgan stop to blow up. With the art lofts on Bogart and the "brooklyn dorms" of the McKibben lofts so close.

I'm just glad my stop, Graham, is still mostly families and quieter 20 and 30 somethings.

  14. 04-23-2012 02:31 PM #434
i think around graham it pretty stable, as its still a lot of older pollacks and eye-talian dudes who arent giving up their row houses just yet. Bushwick kinda leapfrogged it in that sense, lot of kids moving there to pay too much for a loft and crappy bars to serve em.

But i agree on bedford, it kinda looks like calcutta sometimes with the piles and piles of crap bikes chained to stands and such. that and the bridge and tunnel crowd found out about williamsburg unfortunately.

To be honest I see 8 Subaru for every 1 Volvo in the neighborhood. Not sure where this Volvo = Hipster thing came from. But as a Hipster driving a volvo, I still don't see what the fuss is.

Are we allowed to post non-NYC classic cars here too (will take them down if not)?

These were taken yesterday here in Oslo, Norway. I will contribute with more in the future if no one minds. Lots of nice old metal in the streets here.

Yep, it's more a thread about interesting cars in your neighborhood. It just happens to be very NYC/Brooklyn-centric for some reason.

That's nice. Then I will post more contributions in the future. Btw: I don't know if anyone is interested, but here are some classics I have taken pictures of previously:

I won't post them here as they are rather old.

I've been trying to get my buddy Robert (grimrist) who moved from Brooklyn to Seattle for their car culture a few years ago to contribute and post photos of some of his amazing finds out there... but he hasn't yet shown his face on here.
