Yo. I'm Zach from Etown. Have an 03 GTI 1.8t that just ticked over 150k. sadly it's....tiptronic but i won't be sad the day it explodes and i get to swap in a manual. anyone wanna help when that day comes?
i've had it for 4 years and don't really have the money or the know-how to work on it but still wanted to drop in and say hello.
hopefully will get to meet some of you once the weather is a bit better...here's some mk4 content. did glass lenses a few months back.

Thanks ya'll. I enjoy looking at my shiny headlights every chance i get. I stupidly scrubbed away some of the chrome coating on the DS housing though trying to clean it. that stuff comes off really easily.
today i have two new problems. I'm trying to replace my DS front ABS sensor and the bolt holding it in is super rusted.

i can hardly even tell but i'm pretty sure that's an allen right? i'm having a hard time getting it to budge at all...any tips?
also, went to advance auto today to get a small fuel filter to try to eliminate the buzz my boost gauge makes, but I can't fit the coupler around the hose that came with the boost gauge kit.

      This beauty^
I tried heating the hose with a hair dryer but no luck...the guy at advance told me he's had luck just using zip ties really tight around the boost tubing to reduce the airflow, so I guess i'll try that..
and lucky me, valve cover gasket this weekend. i'll try to post up some pics for you guys. have a good weekend ya'll.

Got the ABS sensor in. Just needed to hammer in the allen to really get the bolt out. didn't have to remove the brakes which was nice. question for you guys...what's the stock vacuum on the 1.8th AWP? Here's where i'm sitting and I suspect I have a vac leak. This picture was taken sitting still in Drive with ebrake on.

And I have 4 zip ties on my boost tubing, and the buzz is still very much there...do I just need to use a bunch of them?
      thanks for the help dudes.

Did valve cover today. inside was caked haha. glad to have that done. it was the most involved work i've ever done on a car, that's for sure.

Cleaned it up and put it back on...

next up gotta find my coolant leak.

Maybe try putting the car in park and see if the vacuum increases a bit. Normal range should be closer to -20. If how I'm thinking is correct, the small bit of load on the engine while in gear could be pushing it a little lower for you. I could be wrong though.

yea the vacuum drops to about -20 in park. Is that the actual idle reading?

Nice. Sounds like you're dead-on perfect for a stock AWP then.
