    01 JETTA TDI...02 TT 225
    10-07-2012 10:02 AM #5605
Speaking of winter cars. Just bought a 02 TT 225. I've been wanting one for about a year and I finally found the color/interior(white on black) I was looking for. I went and drove it and it was amazing. So I bought it. Has 103k on it, completely stock besides the wheels and a BOV. Once my mk4 has fully rusted out, the next year or two, i plan on swapping the TDi into it. It is a pretty easy swap, plug and play expect repinning one wire on the engine harness and running 3 extra grounds that the TT doesn't have. The DP is the only part I should have to build and it said to be pretty trick with the stock orientation of the turbo, cold side on the passenger and hot on the driver. But said to be much easier with it flipped around. I should have the car some time next week.

    what do you all think??

I have an ALH with 221k on it timing belt was replaced with kit form IDparts using a 100k mile continental belt. The belt was done on 7/20/10 with 158k on the car.

I was planing on swapping belts in the spring probably around 75k. but popped the cover off today to see what it looked like. Found what looks to be the seam where the belt was stitched together but I'd like another opinion.

Otherwise the belt looks fine, the crack or seam is only in the top layer and it looks as if there are stitches running perpendicular to the crack.

    What do you think??

Nothing to worry about at all Cooper. That seam is on nearly every conti belt I have ever seen. It was there when you put it on, you just didn't notice it. You should be good to go!

I've been really wanting a MKII VR lately too. May be going backwards a little.. MKV to MKII.. If I can get one for cheap I would.

Found an 03 GTI VR f/s on Craigslist for $1600, but needed a head gasket and something else. Not expensive stuff, but time consuming.

I'm normally pretty responsible as far as driving, but after a day of driving it told him "I'm sorry dude, but I just can't keep my foot out of it!!" That damn sound is intoxicating! And htting over 100 on a HW onramp was a surprise too! (and that's coming from a muscle car guy)
