Ordered a new chain and sproket kit, frame sliders, and a new rear shock. Probably won't install until the garage gets above 40 degrees though, haha.
#113
I went out to the garage, disconnected the battery charger and started the engine.
#114
did nothing to mine... sigh...
wanted to get out into the garage and put it back together, but by the time I got the munchkin to bed, I had a headache and didn't feel like it. grrr.
Tonight for sure (maybe)
I have to laugh when someone calls me an a*****e. I've been called far worse than that.

Installed an air filter that has been on order for some time, buttoned the bike back up, test-ran the engine, and checked that item off the to-do list: "Done"!

Started both work bikes, H-D FLHP's, a '93 and a '94.
They've been in the unheated shed since early December after being given a squrt of Sta-Bil and getting attached to their tenders. Batteries were strong and the carbed bikes each fired after 4 or 5 four second cranks with lots of enrichener and throttle pumping.
Everyone said I smelled like gasoline for the rest of the day.
Next ride = St. Pats Parade.

installed HID's high and low, new fairing to replace a cracked one and a set of frame sliders

I f-n rode it! I was riding from the shop to the garage at home which is 8 miles....that turned into 40. Man, it was nice out. I do see a Corbin saddle in my immediate future....I lasted about 30 minutes on that plank of a stock seat before my butt started protesting.

Man this thread needs some new life. Bought the double bubble windscreen I've been thinking about since I bought this bike. Took a little over an hour but that was basically with me guessing on how I was getting thing back on again as I really couldn't find any model specific instructions.
Also my brother the model

This weekend:
New plugs & air filter
Found cracked crankcase breather hose & ordered replacement
Took off rear wheel, rear shock, rear caliper to check some things out
Adjusted the rear shock to the correct setting
Checked final drive & gearbox oil levels
I'm amazed at how comprehensive BMW's included tool kit is, and what all you can do with it.

Yesterday I cleaned the calipers on the SV1000 as the brakes were squeaking. The brake pads were still good, and it would squeak when there was no force applied to the brake lever, pull the brake lever a bit and the squeaking was gone, so that meant that the brake pads and/or caliper pistons were sticking.
I also installed a set of Chinese "pazzo" look alike levers. I can't understand the hype around those levers, they weight as much as the OEM levers (maybe the real Pazzo levers are lighter?), they are not more adjustable than the OEM levers and the OEM levers were more comfortable to me. On the bright side I was surprised by the quality of the Chinese levers, fit and finish was perfect and they look cool.
But now I regret buying them. I should have gone with the folding levers, not much more expensive and they actually have a purpose.

My fiance showed me a video of the summer and I could hear my bike rumbling in the background of the video so I had to go up to the storage building and top it off with 93 again... it was already full.
I hate upstate ny winters.

Rode it into work tonight. May be a little chilly in the AM but meh.....![]()

Just clean the heck out of them. I cleaned the caliper, the tin things that keep the pads from moving, retaining pin and every piston.
I don't care if the brakes squeak when braking, it's normal with hard pads, and it's also normal to hear the pads grinding on the rotor. But I hated that the brakes were squeaking when I wasn't braking, and that meant that something was a bit stuck, either a piston that was not retracting or the pad was not moving.

changed chain and sprockets.... then proceeded to drop the bike in the driveway. Someone shoot me![]()

Replaced a cracked crankcase breather hose.
Next up - replace the fuel filter. Need a way to pump the fuel from the tank first.![]()

Just got in from a short ride thru the city testing out the new A* suit that I got after sending the last one back because I ordered the wrong size.
This new one fits a lot better and feels great on the bike at speed.

Go look at the pics from 96GTI8v above and you'll stop thinking about pants and just buy them.
I got a set of "Tourmaster Caliber" pants from MotorcycleSuperstore.com for $144. They're not the best thing in the world, but I'm sure they're a hell of a lot better than jeans.

Point being, you don't have to break the bank to get at least minimal protection. One visit to the ER for stitches would cost you more than the pants.
