What weight are the Ducati's setup for from the factory? ...And how far off was it?
The front was set up pretty well with the factory settings but the rear was too stiff.

I had the local Ducati dealer do it. They didn't have to replace any springs, just set up the stock Ohlins for my weight with gear. I weigh about 162 with gear, so I'm right in the range that Ducati uses for the stock springs.

Rode into work this morning since I'm on days this week. The powers that be failed to have things we needed for the PM on the tool I'm supposed to be working so I left for the day.

Went by my girlfriend's place to check on her house since she's in Puerto Rico for a conference.

On the way back to my place I get popped for speeding. Yes, I was speeding.

Traffic school (online) in my immediate future.

    MOAR, please.

Yesterday, I road from Düsseldorf to Aachen to meet some Ford peeps, then road down to Stuttgart for a conference. First "long" trip. Road right by the Hockeheimring. That was cool. The whole area around Hockenheimring was overrun with crazy drivers. The second 200kms were easier than the first 200kms. I guess I needed to get into it. Also, the bike appears to be fine, and whatever noises it is making are actually not that serious, as I am sure if it was a big end issue, it would have eaten itself on the way down.

My seat, which I normally bitch about, has redeemed itself. It is very comfy.

I ride back to Düsseldorf tomorrow afternoon.

Freshened up the 18 year old exhaust on my cbr, could have got it a little better but it was getting late. Now I need to send the 4-1 header for Swain coat and I'll be quite happy.

I had already crossed by this point so yeah, that isn't me falling over on the GS. I just got water in my boots and a pair of wet socks.

Notice the KLR makes it thru w/o issue.

In all seriousness- any engine damage?

Rode home from Stuttgart through horrible traffic backups (construction), bad weather, and more construction. 5.5 hours instead of 4 hours. Whatever. I figured out lane splitting, which is not completely legal, but once I committed to the split, the left lane drivers all moved over for me. Made the traffic backups less annoying.

Also turned over 5500kms and road right by the Hockenheimring. Yes, big grins.

Knocked it over in some sand.
    Fortunately no damage.

2x as hard to rite a bike when you're standing in sand. Just an FYI.

Was craving wings from my favorite place yesterday, so I jumped on the bike and headed out for some. Oh yeah, it's ~75 miles away. Beautiful day for a ride.

I was so angry in the car. Someone stole one of BBS center caps.

Swapped the car for the bike, went for a ride. Mind cleared almost immediately. Felt great.

ordered a valve cover gasket and going to pick up a feeler guage so i can do my valve adjustment. will have to wait a few days to close it back up once the gasket arrives but hopefully soon i can get this bike running right. 5-7lbs of vac at idle isnt right. hopefully its way out of spec and bringing it back in will help. Then another carb adjust and sync.

    Brought it home!

Decided on a '02 VFR800 (vtec, yo). It rained on me the whole way home. Always seems to happen when I buy a bike.

My rearview the whole drive home...

Sitting in the driveway...waiting on a second pair of hands to unload.

Anyway... its an '02. Its had both the wiring and brake recall done to it already. Its got fairly new tires, but they don't match. Rear is a Conti Road Attack and the front is an equivalent Dunlop. Its also got some small scratches on the lower left fairing from a garage drop and a slightly tweaked shift lever from the same incident. Both are cheaply repaired....looking forward to it.

Grats. Brag about that thing daily. I am so hot for those VFRs lately.

I dragged my 'strom home in a trailer behind the JSW. Fuggin' thing towered over the car.

After a long day of participating in a car show, I got home at about 4:00pm. Showered to get rid of all the yucky sunblock, then hopped on the motorcycle for about a 45-mile ride.

Life just seems to be much more full when you're on the back of a motorcyle. I was tired from the day's activities but when I got on my bike and started rolling down the road I felt refreshed and much more attentive to the world and its scenery. It was a nice finish to an awesome day with beautiful weather.

I rode through W. Virginia with a friend of mine last summer on my naked SV. The bugs were large and numerous, sounded like rain hitting you. We had to stop to clean off the headlights as it was dusk. It was seriously bad enough to occlude enough of the light that we could not see well.

    Got it running right.

Previous owner really didn't know how to take care of things. But, it fires right up now. Took it for a short ride, love the engine response on this bike. Its just about perfect. Only problem with it is the thermostat is stuck open. Doesn't quite get up to temp while moving. I have one on the way...but then I get to pull -everything- out of the engine valley. Throttle bodies and all. Yay.
