Thread: How to break into a Mk4 golf?

    1. 06-15-2010 09:33 PM #1
I'm dealing with the perfect storm with this car....
      The battery is dead.
The battery in my key also died.
The manual door lock is not working properly. The lock turns properly, but the door won't unlock.
My lock on the hatch has been broken for some time, it works using the unlock button inside the car, but not with the key (manually unlocking the door).

So.... how do I get into the car? Aside from breaking a window with a hammer.
I have replaced the battery in the key but it won't unlock the car (because the car battery is dead?)

This is winter car so it has been sitting for about a month. I wanted to take it for a ride last Sunday and instead found myself in the eye of the storm.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can always break the window?

or use a hangar or slim jim

Have you tried manually unlocking the other doors with the key?

See if one of your friends has AAA, and have them say they were driving your car. They're good at what they do.

You can call your local police department to and they'll come and unlock it with a slim jim thing or whatever the hell its called. I don't understand how the key won't manually unlock the doors though.

Call up a locksmith. The MKVs can be done but you dont use a slim jim as they've most likely put a cover where the slim jim would normally grab a hold of you'd use specially bent entry tools. Swap batteries with someone for a few minutes and buy a remote battery they're like 3 bucks.

everyone is saying coat hanger or plyers, but his battery is dead, He'll have to grab the handle and push it out...don't thin thats pos. I had a hard enough time getting the hanger to roll the window down when i locked my keys in my car with the car running. buddy, its looking like your gonna have to call a lock smith or pony up and smash that rear corner window. also yo could try and activate the airbags, doors automatically unlock then but that may be your most expensive option.

If you dont want to use a hammer to break the window what ever you do dont wedge the door open then unlock it and pull on the handle the way the door will flex will shatter the window.. wedge it open, unlock, take wedge out then pull handle..

I locked my keys in the rear hatch before(because it auto locked on me). So i took a coat hanger/steel wire and a door wedge and wedged the top corner of the door enough to stick a coat hanger inside the car and i pulled the door handle open from the inside, took me about 30 minutes but it worked. The alarms went off too
