I live in St Louis area and just started working on my 2.slow. Just some cosmetic stuff right now, tint, tinted tails and side markers, sprayed emblems. I still need wheels and it needs lowered (not slammed). One of my friends around here has a 1.8t GTI that he is working on too.

Nobody knows where you are, lol. By your area code on your phone number, I'd guess you aren't that close to STL but could be not-so-far from KC. It'd help if we had an idea where you are

I'm in Columbia - met a few cool guys from stlvw here a while ago, and I used to live in the KC area where there is kch2o.com. Could guys and a few nice cars

Since stlvw and kch2o have their own forums, there isn't much MO chit-chat on here in the regional forum. Heck, I haven't popped in here since the big outage / format change


EDIT: IMHO, if you are going turbo you'll be better off with the gear ratios of the 5sp vs. 6sp. As it is, NA with a 24v and just bolt-ons, the gears run out quick. Add boost and it'll be that much faster. Also, the o2m is vety pricey and a bit fragile in terms of the shift fork and the slave cylinder is inside the housing should it go bad (and they do, often). The gears are stout, but plenty of 5sp guys pushing that power without much issue on the gears. Just my $.02, but it sounds like it'll be killer either way

There are a few of us still out there. More often I'm doing SCCA related stuff like auto crossing or track days as opposed the drag racing that's more popular around here. The 417racing crew is the largest around here but I feel a little old to still be doing that kind of thing.

lol there is no Euro scene in MO. Been here a year now and have found maybe 2-3 other people in Springfield that can actually appreciate a German car, much less a VW. If you're not in a Pickup truck or a Mustang, you're hated on. I can't flippin wait to move back to Chicago Granted I'm sure there's plenty of Dubs in STL, just none in Southwest MO.

LOL on the key fob, one of the reasons I want one close also! Mine seems to only want to work half the time....replaced battery, same result....I have no valet key and I think a program may be the issue...so I need a Valet and a program...

also I would love to work for VW somehow...I enjoy what I do now and plan to stay, but always wanted to work for VW in sales if a dealership came closer.

Who is in Booneville? There isn't much there, lol.

I noticed the Revo banner up at Walt's when I was over there a few weeks ago. Personally I wouldn't switch from Neuspeed unless you are having issues with it - Revo is IMO a better product, but not THAT much better if you already have one.

[EDIT: I don't know much about the turbo programs and "Stage" options, so maybe it would be after all...]

As for key fobs, I don't know about here, but some locksmiths can program key fobs. It'd probably be worth asking around anyway. A few friends used a guy in KC somewhere that blew dealership prices out of the water. If you have a working key fob, you can always get a new one, crack it open, and swap the internals over into a new case

I looked further into revo and stage 2/stage 2+ probably wouldnt be worth it since Id need a new fpr and a new fuel pump (for 2+). I also checked the bt stuff for REVO, and I dont like it, I will probably end up doing unitronic

I've driven though Booneville every which way lately and haven't seen one, so I checked VW's website and didn't find it there either Google maps shows one (approximately located) there, but I clicked the dealer link and it's actually in Wheeling, WV.

With 1 working key fob, you can program a second (for the locks anyway) using a real vag com from Ross-Tech. The IMMO though, is a no-go unless you have the SKC. Some high-end locksmiths can do this though - a few friends in KC know of someone there they've used, far cheaper than the dealership. There might be someone local that can do the same, and probably cut the key. Hell - out in CA, a locksmith cut one for my wife by eye-balling it of her original Walt's may be able to help.

When I first got the car I asked about keys at walts. I didnt ask about cutting but they said they cant program, only at the dealer.

yeah I knew Walt's or Tom's couldn't do that...I also had never heard of a dealer in Booneville....unfortunately the closest to us is in St. Peters....

I am still waiting for my title, the place I bought it from had to get lien released and mail it to me and it's getting down to the wire...deadline is this coming Monday and they sent it on Monday past...hopefully it will arrive today so I can register it....once registered, I can call the nearest dealer, and give them the vin, and I believe they can cut a new valet or program a new fob and send it to me overnight as long as I can fax the proof of registration, etc. with vin and my name showing...I just don't know if they need the car itself for the immobalizer part...I am searching for that info and haven't found that out yet. I think I will get a new fob and this one programmed for the spare if not too bad on cost...I also may have another outlet with a buddy with a vag com if I get a blank fob and just program myself...still need valet for that though I am pretty sure

From what i heard it costs around $200 for the key to be programmed by the dealer and I think vag-com will only be able to program the key to unlock but it wont be able to start. Thats just what i read (or think I read :/ )
