If my fleeting audio memory hasnt failed me, I'd opt for a 400/4 (100amps per channel, 4 channels). Run all speakers off the amp, leaving the 4th input for a possible sub. Ensure the amp outputs are RMS rated, rather than peak, so you don't strain the amp.

It had blue and red lighting that matched the mk4 instrument cluster perfectly.

my current corrado tdi's head unit (from a mk3 jetta tdi so it has green lighting that matches the stock green lighting perfectly):

I just ordered two thru Zeb at www.1stvwparts.com They came out to roughly $130 shipped for two. I had seen these listed on overlandparts' catalog for $30 but they weren't able to get them. Overlandparts listed them as mk3 so I hope the display is green. Hopefully in two weeks I'll be able to tell you the results.

Just sold one at Show & Go. Mine was from VW South America, and I believe it was blue.

You can't always tell from the the look of the face. Look at my mk3 cassette headunit. 99% of VW people would guess its blue and red.

even if it is blue & red I should be able to sell them

I've never seen a stock us spec mk4 with a single din CD headunit unless it was the add-on with just the CD and the a single din radio/cassette. I thought all of them came with a cassette and then a cassette and cd when they went double din.

After seeing this thread yesterday, I've been looking for something similar for my Corrado. This one doesn't have USB and not sure about the preamp, but this one is supposedly Blaupunkt/VW and has the black OEM look:
    http://orientalparts.com/VW-Blaupunk...-P2207964.aspx
And this is the image they have:

I'm thinking about buying one of these for my Corrado, but one thing I worry about is that it sounds like they don't sell the wiring harness with it. Their page says "Fit most VW with factory pre-wired standard ISO harness". My Corrado has an older Sony stereo in it, so I imagine it has a wiring harness that's not compatible with this stereo.

Checking... does this radio play MP3's? The (similar) one shown by -skidmarks- does... but this one is cheaper!

I have a head unit for sale. I bought it intending to have it installed in my Corrado but decided to go with another one instead. My ad:

I'll take the 2 pull out units on the bottom. Bottom looks like a 7280, Second from bottom looks like a 7290, or 7293.

The other three look of the 7903, 7904 Versions.
We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.

That isn't difficult to find - you can order those from the web site in the link I shared along with the picture.

I'm jumping in on this bandwagon...

Any good iPhone/iPod capable (BT), headunits that can be flush mounted?

What about the Parrot Asteroid? Anyone has one installed? Pics?

I got an older jvc kameleon kd lx100 with my rado and I love the way it looks, I think it suits the C perfectly. However as some others in this thread have noted, it doesn't sit flush, it sticks out about 1/4". I grabbed my dremel and cut that tab in the back of the bay off and now it fits perfectly. Also ran an aux cable and routed it to my ash tray.
