Hello Vortex like to start by saying thanks to everyone and there lovely comments and a big thanks to my brother... Here is an update

The pipes have all been done in black textured paint we had them sand blasted to allow the paint to attach nicely...

Also refurbished the bumpers 2 days sanding smooth 2 coats of primer filler and 2 coats of bumper textured paint to give it the OEM look, no as textured as the VHT Enamel but its not meant to be... New indicators and chrome bulbs...

    Thanks guys hope you like

Sad to hear you've sold one of the jetta's but at least its gone to a friend who will hopefully look after it... Great to hear your coming to the UK the car should hopefully be finished soon as I want to take it to a couple of shows... would be great to have a fellow vortex member there...

What Primer filler did you use on the bumper? And did you spray on the primer filler in an aerosol or spray gun? I'm assuming you brushed on the bumper paint?

I sanded down the bumper to smooth / etch the surface so the paint can adhere to the plastic... I used one 1k paint as it comes much thicker therefore allows you to thin it down as you want... In this case I didn't thin it down much to enable it to be primer filler to smooth off the bumper as you don't want two different textured effects on the bumper, just make sure its plastic primer... the primer was just brought from a local supplier... it was all sprayed on with a gun the rattle cans wont spray as thickly and smoothly... and the same for the textured paint don't brush it on and don't use rattle cans you get a much more professional look with a gun... As for the textured paint it reacts and textures as soon as you spray it on... Ive had a few emails and posts about this so I will do a step by step tutorial when spraying the rear bumper just encase this hasn't helped much as its kinda hard to explain...

I understand somewhat, but the step by step tutorial that you speak of should help clear the air on what exactly you did.

In any case the bumper looks brand new!!!

Hello Vortex just another little update showing the car being put back together

    The fronts back together

    New weather proofing

Also polished up the inside of the doors

Got a cover for the radiator but it didn't suit the engine so I covered it with some grip tape

Also refurbish the toe cover and apron grill

And once again a massive thanks to my big bro the brains behind this build
and our friend John Tracy for this massive help...

I don't have a picture of one but I know they are different as I've seen one at the breakers and its mounted differently all depends on the year of your car?

there is a guy selling new ones on UK ebay but its on bidding how much would you be prepared to pay? it will cost £10 to post to you from me keep that in mind...

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GOLF-MK2-F...item3f1a208efa

can you also locate me some rear electric window surrounds...

    Another update

    Put on some sill protection

Also put some protection on the inner part of the door frame to protect from seat belts being thrown at the paint... This might be a bit OTT but after spraying the car i want to keep it protected. plus i think it looks very nice and OEM...

And spent a couple hours clean the car (washed, Aqua waxed, and resin polished )

    Hope you like thanks

another update, this time the rear bumper is refurbished and I've taken step by step pictures to do a tutorial...

    Things you will need

from left to right plastic primer, paint thinner, and the APP textured bumper paint

180 grit sanding pads and sander

some cheap standard paint thinner to clean you gun and you bumper before spraying, and of-course a paint gun and compressor is needed...

    bumper before
you want to sand it down so its all smooth and even you don't want two different textures on your bumper. after this spray with the 1k primer thin it down with some paint thinner at a ratio of one part thinner to two parts paint... After this is done and dried wet and dry the bumper to smooth off any imperfections...REMEMBER TO CLEAN THE SURFACE WITH A LITTLE BIT OF STANDARD THINNER BEFORE EVERY SPRAY...

at this point give it another goat of the primer at the same ration leave it to dry and then you are ready to coat it in the APP bumper paint
    FINISHED PRODUCT

Hope this helps for those of you that messaged me about it... If it doesn't fell free to message or post questions...

    Hello fellow dubbers

Sorry for the delay but work has taken over, but there has been progress

Firstly managed to source a new grill as the old one wasn't holding the bottom trim properly and had a few scratches etc. And also sourced a new bottom trim that I had painted.
    Old

    New

And my oil breather reservoir made from a bike water bottle

    New winter wheels Ronal LS
    Stripped

    Primer

Paint but still needs more polishing on the lip...

    New brake pressure cylinder

    vortex stickers on

    Interior

Few bits that came in the post

hope you guys and girls like
