That's how you say "licence to print money" in bureaucratic speak.

Some other troubling things in that report (and i actually read the whole thing

)

*Section 6.5.3: The report endorses the view that because the ACT has legislation that allows multiple offences to be enforced from a single act (combined speed/red light cameras can sting you for both offences, should they occur), that should P2P and fixed site speed offences be committed (you do 110km/h past the entry camera (infringement) and 109km/h point to point (averaged infringement)), that they be treated as 2 offences, not a single speeding offence.

*That the ACT represents an "ideal opportunity" to develop networked P2P cameras for the world. i.e an entire region can be covered with cameras and each could represent a start and end point with averaged speeds calculated between any camera in the network.. (Google SPECS3 network enforcement in the UK)

*Another gem... "Whilst the additional procedures to process P2P offences are minor they will require operator training. The importance of this training should not be underestimated due to the potential for the P2P system to incorrectly match vehicles – this could be due to misreads or the duplication of licence plates between States."

Finally, the whole thing is fukken horseshiit. It constantly mentions "studies have shown ......... " without actually referencing a single fuking one. Case in point. Section 5.1.3 on Mobile Speed Camera Vans has a sentence that simply states "A previous study into the effectiveness of the mobile speed cameras showed that speeds were reduced and crashes were also reduced." With no reference to the study..

I'd forgotten what a nice twisty road it is that takes you to the boat ramp I photographed above. It's not long at all, it would make a great hill climb course.

Might have to go back out when it's not so busy. There was heaps of rubber necking going on yesterday!

Sounds like Queanbeyan is going to be affected by flooding today.

Last week Sullivans Creek through O'Connor/Turner was almost lapping the road at the David Street bridge. Our place is not too far from there, a bit closer to Lyneham, but we probably have 5-7m grace, haha.

I had a look the other weekend. If you go out via Lake Road near Bungendore you can see a bit, and the level has increased slightly from late September.

From the lookout on the highway it's again only a small increase that can be seen. I'd say you'd need an elevated position like Marked Tree Road (near old Collector turn off), but last week access was limited due to flooding, so not sure how you'd go, besides getting wet and muddy.

This was the view from Marked Tree Rd in mid-September (water levels have dropped a bit since then)...

...and from the Fed Hwy lookout last Sunday...

It's up quite a bit where the molongolo goes under the Tuggers parkway. Was rather impressive seeing a knob jockey nearly get cleaned up, stopped partially on the road of the Cotter road exit to take some piccies.

Lima - I'm sure you didnt stop right on the edge of an 100/80 zone exit, and actually get out of the car while the wheels were still in the road/lane. Pulling off out of traffic I can understand, but seriously, when it rains I think it causes the brains of some drivers to swell up and stop functioning.
