Haha, yeah, I was in the back seat of a moving car when I took that pic.

The rubberneckers on Tugg Pkwy nearly caused quite a few accidents from all I heard. Amazing stuff.

Coming past the lake all the way down to Scrivener was amazing. The fast moving debris in the lake was staggering.

Apparently, at peak, Googong was up a metre over the top. That meant more water passing over than Niagara Falls.

Sooooo....I went for a drive to Lake George. Nothing really to report. Now, move on, move on...

Well, because I'm a sad case I went out to Scrivener Dam again this evening. As Steve said the driftwood throughout the lake was astonishing, really, and watching it spill over the edge of the dam was pretty cool!

I have another clip to come which shows the debris much better, but for now...

Yeah, it sounded a bit like that. If I wasn't there myself I'd be saying what a bunch of sad sacks they were to be there looking at some flowing water.

    Anyway...

ACT Government simple guide to road maintenance.

Step 1. Find a perfectly flawless asphalt road and apply thick black tar liberally.
Step 2. Sprinkle copiously with stones. Do not clean these up for at least 2 weeks, if at all.
Step 3. Sit back and watch motorists deal with tar stains and stone chips to paintwork. Congratulate self on job well done.

Extra credit: Do this in the middle of the wettest year on record to ensure the aforementioned perfectly flawless asphalt road turns into a ribbon of corrugated, slimy shiit.

    Stupid kunts...

    Next weekend, maybe.

I think I can now bring the Mk1 with confidence too.

Well that came and went without fanfare.

Even took the Mk1 out for a reasonable drive.

New Kia Optima out and about on local roads. It's a decent looking car, too, for a Kia.

    Alrighty, this Saturday morning 8am.

Meeting place is 6 Chan St, Belconnen for northsiders at 7:40am

Or, you can head directly to the Cotter Camping Grounds at 8am http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...near=&t=h&z=17

I'm tipping we'll hang out there for a while to allow late comers to make it and have the usual catch up. There'll be some people/cars I haven't met before on this one so looking forward to taking some good pics.

Hope to see you Saturday bright and early

  19. 01-27-2011 06:08 AM #90
Hey bud, just a note: the camping grounds are closed. It might be an idea to set up an alternative.

Thanks for that Steve, I've suggested RSPCA car park off Cotter Rd so unless there's a better idea that's where it'll be at 8am.

Fair enough. We will just be shooting up and down Brindabella rd though so I guess you could just turn up at 9-10am after your lazy arse is out of bed and find us somewhere along the road.

I'm going to suggest to the attendees that we stop on a corner to take some video footage and pictures.

From desperation comes joy, the story of a failed Polo GTI purchase.

Will let the new owner fill in the blanks.

Not sure what you are talking about lads????

YAY! Finally have joined the VW Club. After being told my order for a 5dr CW Polo GTI (Comfort + RDC510 + Bi-Xenons) would be in 2012, I decided to 'up the rent' to a Golf. Slaven's had a Carbon Steel 5dr Manual Golf GTI with Detroits - demo with only 90kms (1 drive) on it, $42.5K on road. Compare this to the Polo being $36.6K. SO, SHE IS MINE!

I will trade in my 306 XSi change over being well south of $40K and, I GET THE CAR ON FRIDAY, not next year!

    Fkn excited?

    Great stuff Stu.

Mad respect for 306s though, came close to owning one a couple of times, but never got across the line. I know you only had it for a while, but I'll be sad to see it go, haha.

Hopefully the GTI ownership experience is a good one for you.

Congratulations! Sounds like Phil looked after you, good guy. Though wasn't a happy chap when we cancelled our R order a few weeks ago (lost out to the 1M).
