Joel count me in for a snowy drive. Either before or after the snow. It's been far too long

I could be up for a Brindy run (and maybe bring a friend who just got a RS Clio 200 Cup, if she's back from leave).

I'm certainly keen for an Alpine way drive tho. Only black out dates for me are the 9th of April (wedding) and the 16th is the dyno day up in Sydney.

Sweet! I'll check out some dates for a full day out in the coming weeks. Easter is out for me, other than that I am pretty free up. Stand by for a new thread, these things suck to organise though

Paul, would Sydney people prefer a Saturday or Sunday do you think given they will likely stay in Canberra/Queanbeyan the night before the drive?

Maybe 7 or 8 May for Alpine Way? When does the snow/ice start to cause issues?

As for Brindy Rd, how about Sunday 10 April morning? Would love to see the 200... When we find a date I'll post on OzRenaultSport as well.

First snowfall in the Vic alps was around May 5th last year, and the official snow season usually begins mid June... I don't think you'd want to plan any later than the first weekend in May..

It's a fine line between getting the best turbo-friendly cold, dense air, and watching a camry spear off the road right in front of you...

I'm a dumb arse, I can't do 10 April as I will still be away at Targa.

  8. 03-31-2011 01:27 AM #148
Well I'd probably have to give the Snowies a miss till after winter. I've got so much work on interstate and possibly living in Melbourne for all of June. But once the snow melts then yup count me in.

Appreciate the thought. Raincheck? Been a while. I might even wash the aRSe for the occasion.

Thanks for the recommendation, they were great. The tiguan got tinted on the weekend, very happy. So much, that I will be taking the GTI there once it lands. Fabulous customer service, really genuinely nice people.

Any one thought any more about a day down in the snowies?

I'm guessing the best dates at this stage will be the weekend of the 30th apr/1st may or 7th/8th.

Any preferences?? I probably can't do the 7th, but keen for any other day. Anyone else got some blackout dates?

Yeah, that was down at Hotham today. Getting very early in the year for snow...

Perhaps it's best to plan for the 30th or even the weekend after next..

I'll be driving back from Melbourne on the 30th April so that weekend is no good for me. Apparently it's been predicted that Perisher will get snow as early as this weekend.

I had written off the idea of doing the snowies before the snow. After the snow would be better I think but I am out for late October/early November as I am getting married and honeymooning!

Joel what better way to spend your honeymoon then driving around the snowy mountains, we'll keep our distance we promise

    Also, snow is a falling

That photo looks the be in front of the massive car park at Perisher, I lifted it from there Facebook, not sure how low the snow is falling.

    Thanks guys

Mrs (soon to be) ACT180 was such a trooper in the passenger seat all over Tasmania's finest, least straight roads over Christmas that I thought that I really am on to a winner and I should lock it in

Snowies for a honeymoon is only likely to happen if we don't get off our backsides and choose a destination. So, pretty likely as there's just too much to choose from. We've narrowed down to Malaysia or Thailand and we want the swishest, most private accom, and must have our own private pool.

Dylan, here's the card for the guys that detailed the S3. It was $300 for them to do inside and out. They did a very good job for the most part, although they missed a few bits here and there, nothing major. We'll probably get them to do the Mk5 as well.

Mine read -0.5°C when I arrived at work this morning.

Oil temp was a toasty 2°C when I started the car. Needless to say I flogged the crap out of it straight away to get the temp up.

I am my own turbo. It was -2.5 deg according to Garmin at 5:50 this morning. My winter gear weighed more than my bike.

You guys seen 'the rage' about an infamous silver SS Commodore causing quite a few road rage incidents? Detailed posts on The Riot Act. Keen an eye out for a VE/VY/VZ Dunnydore with rego plate "YBY-06P"

Call ACT Policing with any info you have. As my copper mate called them, Tip Rats.
