After 8 years and 156k miles my wife's cabby finely gets a face lift. She bought the cabrio new in '02 and has driven it as a daily. She would not let me modify it unless it was absolutely necessary. I put a exhaust on it when the stock one rusted off.

Well she finally caved to my modding pressure.

Fresh respray, euro rub strip, coilovers, wheels, euro switch, and new glass lenses on the way.

Sure, she is a good driver. Just needs to learn the low car technique a little. Plus I have a built 2.9L VR waiting to go in it if the 2L gets smashed up.

Yesterday she thought it was too low. Today she drove it with a big grin on her face.

The more I look at that Cabrio, the more I like it. The body lines look great at that height

    Yup, Jetta Sportwagon.

I am very pleased with the height. I really don't have any desire to go lower and it is still drivable. I have 5mm spacers on the rear right now, but I think I may go slightly thicker.

Hopefully if I show my woman this, she will finally get some coilovers. She has admitted it sits entirely too high.

    Looks great.

Good luck with that. Like I said, it took me 8 years to get to this point.

I have the 5mm spacers on it right now. They help, but aren't enough. I think I might bump up to 15mm because the body shop did do some fender work so I should be safe from rubbing.

I should be at VAG Fair.

Thanks. I am pleased with them. I have always liked the wheels, but wasn't sure how they would look the the car. My wife wants to keep it as OEM+ as possible without really knowing what OEM+ is.

Going to bump this as a project thread.

Cabby is now at 164K and the autotragic is finally biting the dust. Bought a manual parts car that I will start tearing apart tomorrow.

It was my wife's daily driver from '02-'10 and mine for the past year and a half. I am excited to be driving a manual again as soon as this swap is done.
