Hi Community,
I have been using the VOLK-L for Bluetooth connectivity as of yet... No complaints from so far but I just bought a bluetooth module 5N0-035-730A to upgrade to the big-brother...
As the VOLK-L does not have rsap it uses the phones "antenna" and just sends the voice over to the blueooth module while the new module needs an antenna to function as he phone once connected is more or less dead-idle...
Has anyone doen this swap yet ? Could get a dual band 900/1800 MHZ to connect which does not do me any good in the US as I guess AT&T uses 1900 HZ frequency ?
My Tiguan did not come wit bluetooth connectivity; I retrofitted the VOLK-L kit myself but I assume the car antenna does not support quad-band or so, correct ?
Spend a good afternoon trying to find bluetooth posts here as I have seen plenty a while ago but want unfortunately not lucky of locating one now... Murphy's law...
Thanks for your comments.

I'm actually interested in the same, but haven't been able to find anything either. Currently have the volk-l that I installed, but want to upgrade to something that handles the address book in the rns-510.

will let you know if it works for me...
the part will be installed in late september.
already bought a quad band window antenna that work with 850/900/1800 and 1900mhz and a fakra/din adapter.
hope it'll be an easy switch...

i had some similar questions as well, does your tiguan have the rns510 navi / without bluetooth?

The Volk-l plugs into the back of the head unit. The VW modules 9w2, 9w3, 9w7 plug into a completely different wiring harness under the passenger seat. I have seen no one picking up that wiring harness to complete the job. I suspect the harness part of job would be prohibitively expensive.

The Volk-L doesn't really plug into the back of the radio. I had to wire in a harness into the connector on the radio so that it could tie into the can-bus directly, plus audio out into the radio (through the radio harness). I read somewhere (can't find the link) that the connector on the volk-l was the same as the rsap models, but I haven't been able to confirm that.
I'm still running the volk-l but would love to hear if anyone made this swap.

it should work just fine- im not sure which module the one you have is exactly but yes the bluetooth modules use the same connector at the modules including vokl i believe the only issue youll have is you wont be able to have the phone book displayed in the cluster but it should display in the rns. Ill see if i can find out anymore info

Well... a couple of days ago I started this project...
The unit 5N0 035 730 connected really nice to the cables retrofitted for the VOLK-L unit. After some truble the Blackberry 9700 got connected BUT I am having issues to connect to a network.
Part of me thinks that the unit 5N0 035 730 is only dual band compatible (900/1800 MHZ) and would not pick up any network in the US (which runs 850 & 1900 MHZ) but who would develop a unit with dual band in the year 2008 ??? even normal cellphone for US$ 50 in a store woudl work quadband?!?
Can somebody confirm what bands the Nokia units for VW broadcast on? I was hoping an antenna which coverts all band (850/900/1800/1900/UMTS) would do the trick.... Apparently not..

plus.... one more thing...
to ALL Tiguan 2009 (ONLY 2009 with RED MFA!!!). Which Premium BT module are you using...
Please list
a.) OEM part number
b.) phone menue functional
c.) what function do you have on phone butten in RNS 510/RCD 510
Thanks....

a.) Premium Bluetooth (5N0035730A) - factory installed, RSAP
b.) yes
c.) phone button/steering wheel= hang up and answer call.
phone button/RNS-510=phone menu
Unfortunately RSAP is causing issues with my HTC HD2 (it worked ok with HTC HD) and I'm considering replacing it with some module having simple Hands Free profile. I'm looking for a module, which should be harnes compatible with 5N0035730A and should support the mic what is already installed. It should dispay phone menu on the red MFD, and to display the phone screeen on RNS-510. Any ideas? I though about 1Z0035729B, but still I'm not confident that this is the proper replacement module. AFAIK, Friscon module doesn't work with the mic from premium bluetooth, right?

Now.... this is something I have not heard before... you have the A version which is described as non functional in the US as it was desriced that it only supports 900 MHZ and 1800 MHZ networks.
Where do you live in the US ?
What carrier do you use ? AT&T ?
If the 5N0035730 is indeed workable in the US with 850 MHZ or 1900 MHZ I will give it another try with a bunch of different antennas.... While the integration and connection worked good the unit never showed any signal from the network....

I live in Europe. So in US the 5N0035730A is more or less useless. 5N0035730C should be ok for US, but it is for white MFA according from what I've read on the net. I'm in doubt if there is a RSAP capable unit working with red MFA and US carriers.
