The dub scene around here is like a Bob Ross painting: Lots of happy trees but no 'dubs.

But I know you are out there and you may even be trolling the vortex. Hopefully you will find this thread. I know that Ft.Rucker brings the most dubs to this area but those guys are usually here for only a short time and that makes sustaining a group difficult at best. Though we've had a Dothan/Enterprise thread for a while(recently resucitated), I thought it would help if "rucker" was also in the post title to improve search-ability and help get those guys connected with other dubbers. So here it is, the new home base for our lame little local slice of the vortex pie.

Now, there is www.H2Otuning.com (shout-out w/props) which is an Alabama-based gruppe for all of you VW nuts who are SERIOUS about affiliating but they are up in the northern part of the state. Way too far for casual meets and such. Especially if you've got a 5 & 9 exam on Monday. But this is not kicking-off a club per se, just initiating a thread for local chit-chat. For myself, I'm here to stay. Therefore, I have a little more interest in seeing a thriving dub scene in the local area. I drive the flash red Mk4 GTI with aftermarket bumper...the proverbial "sore thumb".

So as you drop in here, post up who y'are and what y'drive.

      .....and because I think it's f'in hilarious, here's the bubba-dubz logo again:

What's up, I'm Karl with the porcelain blue MKIII with blued out tails on BBS RGRs. Currently under the care of Matt and his crew at Pro Master and Billy Pilcher. When she returns, 16vABAT.

If anybody needs a GOOD shop to do performance mods or normal repair work for any car or truck shoot me a PM and I'll hook ya up.

      Happy Dubbin

      Okay...let's see if the following are trolling this forum;

      White Mk3 Jetta, trunk spoiler.
Blue Mk4 R32, appears stock. Rolling out of Cairns around 3-ish.
The flat black Mk1 or 2 Golf/GTI. Seen on hwy 84 but not lately.
Shiny black Mk3 vr6 GTI with sad looking steelies...oh wait, that's Peter. Nevermind.

Anybody got a can of 3M Primer 94???

Great idea, rucker in title will help search.

No dude your mk4 is not the sore thumb, thats my mk3 now. I literally have a blue smashed spot on my finger to prove it working with the tires couple days ago.

Ya I wonder where said spray bombed mk1/2'r is? I really want to see it closer up. Your talking of the one with yellowish headlights and badgeless?

Hey 20B I or my dad might hit you up through pm sometime about our 77 280z needs serious valvetrain work/timing/unfubaring. Was over-rev'd (dang capet/pedal stick ) With all the work on my car it's on the "back burner" atm.

Peter, here's the link to the VR6 coilpack alternative

It's a long long read over the past 3 years but the jist of it is: buy a bracket and 3 sets of MSD coils, wire in accordance with DIY in the thread and enjoy smoother engine and (so they say) longer lasting ignition components. Some have reported mileage improvements. I suspect that the system doesn't run any better than a NEW and PROPERLY WORKING stock coilpack but the one's who've tried it were used to riding with at least a partially failing coilpack...so they felt a difference, naturally, with the coilpack alternative installed. But it does look pretty slick under the hood. That, alone sells me and the out-the-door cost isn't far off from buying an OEM replacement.

I may get there one day. Starting to go beyond knowledge there computers yes electrisity no, I would be more interested in stock ecu programing like hondata's/m3's. Got a firend in albany that modified his in hex.

I just want a day of nothing going wrong in my gti atm.

Ya I'm being too hard on myself cheering up at least it's in my driveway.

Can't think of any good places for the dub scene to hang out or would have thought of a g2g point. We should take Albany Ga's gig and hang out at the sonic or something where loitering with base/22inch rims is appreciated these days.

Oh by the way I tried mspainting some ak47/m16's behind and in the buba dubz logo but looked horrible just can't get it right. It's a good idea though and great logo! Though it surely needs some ak-ciggeratte-beer-stripper action of some sort to be truly... buba.

22's?? Maybe on a Touareg. A reasonably decent gtg place is likely absent anywhere around Eprise. Had one at LaBamba not long ago. We shot the breeze over tacos and then headed out to the lot to raise hoods. On that scale, something similar could be done. It is my understanding that the 1st Saturday of the month is when ALL the car guys park their shiz in front of JC Penney's but it's not a dubs thing. Whatever.

20B...post up a pic of your car, man!

I'll see what I got on here, I had a bunch of pictures of the old MKIII I had before I totaled that one. I'll look through and throw a couple up, nothing too impressive yet

quick notes on the parts layout: I'm not using that turbo, I have a T3/T4 60 trim instead and the LSD is an 02A wavetrac.

it is. and there is much going on right now. lots of cosmetic beautification to the intake manifold, installing the stealth oil catch (42dd), throttle body coolant bypass, deleting the bird's nest of thin coolant lines around the throttle body, SAI gone, dropping 1/2" in the front, swapping rear springs, and adding a handmade one-off brushed aluminum trim strip across the rear bumper - its gonna be sweet! Once all that crap is done, and it test drives okay, I've got like 3 other significant mods planned. I never quit

i know how you feel, putting all those parts together took me about 2 years and a lot of grief. not pictures is my 1 of 20 RMR SRIs that is sweet as tits and the finished 02A with the .75 5th and wavetrac. i'm debating whether or not to have my parents ship me down my series 5 holeshots and replace the racelands that are on it now. i also need to do some body repair and audio work. these things sure as hell are money pits but damn is it fulfilling.

So you see how lame our 'crew' is. You're basically asking a small group of relatively disinterested guys to travel 2.5 hours to somewhere other than disneyland. I would be down, its just gathering enough participants here and working out a universally acceptable time/date (in cooler months ) that may prove difficult. nevertheless...thanks for the shout.

How many guys would you estimate are in your gruppe?

I could probably make a weekday GTG bi monthly maybe. First order of business is getting the vdub back on the road. Promaster JUST started working on it. They pulled the motor Tuesday so hopefully Pilcher's has it disassembled honed and reassembled by today. I doubt it judging by how fast people work down here but we'll see what happens.

This thread delivers. No way man 22's on dem crown vics!

We should totally crash the JC penny thing next month, just to do it.

vrpilot, that looks immaculate! Just add a 120 shot of nos and sway bars your good to go. JK. Super clean man. My bay looks like a charcoal bomb went off in it. When things settle I'm taking your advice on that oil cooler kit and silicon hose kit for next summer. I hit 224 yesterday had to hit ac then sweat it down to 210ish. It's my understanding min 180 max 220 for oil to be effective. Have to find another computer gig to bank up, hopefully I can, been on "the hunt."

Does that office chair drift too? LOL it actually holds it... Looks like good work is being done to it. Is that an ABA? Completion pics when done please!

Ya we're not really even a crew yet, bubba dubs unite!! I used to go over to A town allot to visit friends like I said but never hit up the sonic was too busy drinking I guess . Was planning a random day to drop by just myself but if we coord something here with 20b and vrpilot I'd have to have week notice to get the day off. Vrpilot I know there is enough there to be considered a 'group.' Jhughes might know my m3 friend, william c? He raced someone there with a mk2/1 vr swap, almost had him too! You know him? Think he said it was white.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside. Run. He's fuzzy. Get outta here!

720 is a good truck. I looked at one when I lived in bham. Upgraded they move and look good lowered. I didn't know what the after market parts were like. Glad I waited for my 280 zed but it really just breaks my heart every time I look at it. http://image.minitruckinweb.com/f/15...cab+engine.jpg

In fact a friend of mine in highschool had something similar, it was red stripped out on air ride. Shi* was hoppin yo... literally. Amazingly he said it was a good daily forgot how many miles were on it.

I want to see said buttermilk one.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside. Run. He's fuzzy. Get outta here!
