Matt, here's his broke car thread. Another brain certainly wouldn't hurt as well as networking to see who's got special tools and such.

Hey, let me know if you what any help with getting your car fixed. I am more than willing to help and getting time off from work isn't a problem. My wife works at O'Rielys in Enterprise, so parts or tools aren't a problem. Give me a call and let me know. As far as SOWO is concerned the more the marryer.

Someone who has pulled a 1.8T apart would be most helpful.

Sorry, I don't have to codes on me gave the computer back) but the codes were
PO300- random/multiple cylinder misfire
PO304- Cylinder 4 misfire
PO303- Cylinder 3 misfire
PO302- Cylinder 2 Misfire
PO301 Cylinder 1 misfire
We then cleared the codes then took out spark plugs and coils and ran it for about 10 seconds and no codes are back even when I ran it with VAGCOM.

I've been very active tongue-lashing some toole in a couple threads about the antifreeze. Yeh, I know. But if you haven't caught it, you need to read all the way thru this one no matter how you feel about using certain coolants....its just a verbal war.

PS. I took a cheap shot at his Mk3 just to piss him off. It should be known that I don't really hate on Mk3's. Enjoy--

There is a car show at the college in Enterprise Saturday. I think from 8 to 4. It is hosted by the weevil city cruisers car club. www.weevilcitycruisers.com and part of the Piney Woods Art Festival. Its an annual thing and you will see some crazy hotrods and classic muscle cars. Definitely worth checking out to see what's squirrelled away in people's barns around here.![]()

Well my project has been going pretty slowly. Hopefully pulling the engine next weekend. Yesterday I got done sanding down 2 of the 4 rims I'm refinishing. Hopefully prime/painting next weekend too. If anybody has experience with a spray gun or knows someone with experience I would love to get some tips+ tricks on how to properly paint rims. Lots of fun stuff, I'm excited!

I'm not an expert on spray painting, but if you're painting metal wheels, you probably need a metal primer so the paint won't flake off over time. I'd imagine you also need to sand the metal so it's etched and the primer can get firm adhesion in the etches. There's also chemical that do this.

I'm going to start powder coating starting this fall hopefully. As far as the engine goes, we need to get that thing out so we can see if the block and rods are still good.
On a different note Evan (Blue GLI) will be here this weekend. We need to try to get a little GTG going for this weekend.
Check out this link. Hopefully it works. This young Soldier was MIA from 1944 until 2005. We performed honors for him on Friday (25 March 2011).

Last Sunday me and Matt finally got the engine pulled. It was a little difficult because we decided not to pull the tranny at the same time, but we eventually got it out. Also, I started primering the rims. They're turning out alright but I have a bit of wet sanding to do because I'm a noon at painting.
If anybody gets bored or just wants to help me and Matt plan on tearing down the engine this Saturday. I think we're also taking out the tranny. Other than that I think I might detail the engine bay!

Random late bump.
Stoked about ripping apart Justin's 1.8t Saturday. I'm going to bring a boat ass of washers or something to replace those socket heads. I actually had a dream about it and I think they need to come off.Not kidding.
Just living the vr6 life at the moment. Cannot wait for 262/chip

/fixed. Lol kidding, they are coming along great just do your best is all that matters. You've chosen the right weather, which is step 1 and 90% of what matters. 10% is technique but it's all the difference.

Where were you guys my whole high school career? I lived by the FL/AL line, about 15 mins from Dothan. I always met up with the www.panhandledubs.com guys. I used to have a Rave Green Mk4 when I was around that area though and I swear I never saw another dub, besides middle aged women in Jettas anyways.Anyways I've been in Gainesville, FL for the last couple years for school, but I still come back to visit family. I drive a candy white mk5 now and I'll see what you guys got going on when im in the area.
#124
Yesterday me and the guys got the engine block picked apart. It's now at the machine shop getting honed and cleaned. Half way there!! Hopefully it will be up at running by SOWO because I am SO excited not only to go, but to go in my car!
I'll try to remember later to post some pictures of the pistons. They're nasty!

Hey man how is the trunk coming?
Well what did we do man? It's pretty much reverse process. Put in engine then we'll hook everything back up. If we skip a step and physically can't do something to continue, it's not like it's the end of the world. It comes back off and then do whatever is first then re-apply. Once we are doing it there is only so much that fits only one way. Don't let vr6pilots bently sit there all lonely. Give it some love. Think back in your memory too.
This is why I'm taking a pic of EVERYTHING where it goes and how it is. Every tube and wire and everything. It may take a little longer but I have a whole week and allot less stuff under the hood. Like half of Justins garrage is tubing and... stuff. I was like. All this was under hood... really? and the 1.8t is lighter than vr6 how?just kidding it really is lighter still. Damn iron vr6
Just call me and Matt over.

There's no build thread because I haven't had the time to do it myself and now that I'm picking up where someone else left off without all of the details it's driving me up the wall...
In short, it will eventually be a 16vABA turbo. T3/T4 60 trim turbo, 82.5mm Wisecos with IE rods, Megasquirt II, mechanical clutch 02A w/ Wavetrac, 2 1/2in DP to high flow cat then 3" back.
Right now it sits in pieces. I'm emailing APR up in Opelika to see if I can set up an appointment with them and get it done right.
