Drum brakes on the lower line models doesn't bother me so much as the lack of gages. Trucks have them, not cars. What, trucks have oil pressure but cars don't? Now the fuel gage disappears? On the flip side, I've heard that some or all Miata gages are not really gages at all, more like idiot lights that mimic gages. If the info center can contain "gages", then we should be able to customize what we see; oil temp or/and pressure, turbo boost, etc etc.

I too think that VW took a huge step back with the MkVI. My '06 Value Edition Jetta has independent rear suspension, disc brakes, and a lot of other features the MkVI base model doesn't have. I think VW is trying too hard to mass market these cars to Toyota owners and needs to go back to their roots. Personally, I am having a hard time seeing myself in a MkVI if what everyone is saying is true about build quality and quality of materials. Unfortunately, it looks as though a lot of it is true by looking at these pictures recently. I think I am going to have to see this car in person when it hits showrooms to make up my mind, but the prospect of coming out with a good impression of the new Jetta is not promising.

The only thing I like about those accessories so far is maybe the wheels....

Like posted earlier I hope the higher models have more quality things.

I'd also have to see this thing in person to make up my mind.

    Anyone spot a rear caliper?
Or did the "accessories" include rear 'drum brakes'?

Only SEL, TDI, and GLI models will have rear disk brakes.

To entice children of Accord and Tercel buyers to buy a Jetta.
