Hey guys, just thought I'd make a thread for these two upcoming Afgan War documentaries that look like their going to be pretty intense. They both seem to have awesome camera work are look top notch which is a nice change from regular war documentaries.

    Trailers have some NSFW language

Here's the trailer for Hell and Back Again which was first named Battle for Hearts and Minds

Highly suggest that you read the book War by Sebastian Junger, especially if you watch Restrepo. They were written and shot in tandem, and involve the same people(Battle company and their camp called Restrepo). Its really good. It just gives you a tiny taste of what our boys overseas are doing on a day-to-day basis.

Danfung Dennis really put DSLR video capabilities on the map. Those things are changing the game. Docs look interesting.

I watched Restrepo over the weekend. That's a crazy and beautiful geography, but a ****ty place to try fighting a war.

Yeah, saw Restrepo a week or so ago. You're right, those guys are really young to be out there on the tip of the spear. God bless `em all.

Restrepo was amazing. Intense, intense, intense. I tend to watch damn near every war movie that comes out, but there's a huge difference between a war movie and a war documentary.

    you should check out Armadillo

came out a few months ago.

It's really well shot and sometimes it feels like a movie instead of a documentary. Its weird

I would move it up to the top. I watched it recently, really made me respect the balls our soldiers have and what their daily routine is like.

Restrepo was a let down for me....

I thought overall it was a cool documentary, but overhyped/overrated.

The Restrepo director was just killed in Libya... shame.

I definitely want to check it out. I don't think a war documentary would be any good if it didn't show that side of things.
