FS: 98 White Jetta, 2.0L, Automatic (NJ/PA)

CAR WENT TO SCRAP-- NO LONGER AVAILABLE, SORRY

I bought this car in college because I needed something to commute with for the highway. Car is in decent shape, a few dings and scratches that could be fixed otherwise body is in good shape. I bought it with 125,xxx and it now has 201,xxx miles.

Here is the back story..
The car broke down on me in the second week of May- felt like I was pushing the gas pedal to the floor and no resistance, just revving the RPMs. I had it towed and once it got to the shop, it fired up and drove fine. Had the timing belt, serp belt, and AC belt all replaced (5/10). A week later it was sputtering to and from work every time I stepped on the gas. Finally I was almost home and it died. The car would not even start this time so we pushed it into a lot. I then had it towed to another mechanic who thought it was an electrical problem so he tore through the car and could not find any problems. He was a total douche and left the car all apart for two months so we ended up towing it from his shop to my parents house. My dad helped me put a lot of the car back together and we will be wrapping up the wires soon.

All in all, we think there is something wrong in the trans. It threw a code for shift solenoids but there are 6 and they cost more money than I want to invest in this car any longer. Would be a great car for a 5 spd swap or someone who wants to invest in a used trans and try to run it for awhile. It could be a really nice car if someone wanted to take the time but I have moved on and just want it gone.

Good:
-Timing belt, serp belt, and AC belt all replaced only 1,000 miles ago (5/10)
-New Oil Pan replaced (3/09)
-Maintained every 3,000 with oil.
-Tune up at 180,xxx
-New battery (2/09)
-Caps and Rotor replaced (4/09)
-Rear tires are almost brand new (1/10), front tires have some wear
-New ebrake cable (2/10)
-NJ Inspection good until Jan 2012

Bad:
-No AC
-Rust spots (like all mark3s)
-Paint chip in hood (small, easy fix)

$1000 OBO
Car will need to be towed since I'm not sure how far it will run. WILL NOT PART- SELLING AS WHOLE, AS IS.

So wish I knew if this tran is still good lol....car went up in flames....same car. The motor is good, firewall saved it, just need friend to come over after class and tell me if its good before I think of swap

My parents want this car off their property so I have until the end of October or the car will be going to the junkyard.

New price.. $550 firm
At that price it's basically a steal. Just had the timing belt, serp belt, and ac belt done less than 1,000 miles ago and that cost more than my asking price. Lots of new(er) parts too
