    Hello Everyone,
Lets try this again... As some of you may know already I used to have an 83 GTI which was my project car, but due to financial and space oriented problems i had to get rid of it. I was given an ultimatum to get it rolling or to get something that is at least rolling.. (Buying something rolling and painted helped me financially... the GTI was sold to my friend a few miles away. It is in great hands) Well after searching on the internet i found my diamond in the rough. It was a 1980 VW Caddy from Ohio, The previous owner was Jimmy V. he as well was in a situation like me.. too many projects and too little space.
Finding another Mk1 worked out perfectly because i already had the long awaited front Bagyards bombers custom made for my Mk1, and i also had multiple parts purchased for the gti.

So here are tyhe new specs for now..
-AWP 1.8t, 02m 6 speed transmission, and CAE motorsports shifter
-Front Bagyard Bombers, Rear Slam Specialties RE-6 , 8 switches, 2 480cc compressors, and a 5 gallon tank

I purchased this in July, just never had time to make my build thread.. Parts have been slowly coming in.

    From the purchase.

Quick stop at Buffalo Wild Wings

    Parked in VIP

Tanking up and starting the journey about 360 miles back to Chicago.

the caddy came with smoked headlights, but they were rusting a bit on the inside so.... i bought original lights.. I think i made the right decision.

Also installed all the window seals today and the windows

Shifter was also fitted into place.

    Very nice.

Good choice on the headlights for sure. What are your plans for the bed and the front, especially rear bumpers?

    Keep it up!

the donor car didn't seem like it was rough, those limited edition GLI's are worth big bucks around here, because there is so few of them, and even fewer are clean and not killed

North suburbs of Chicago about 10min north of downtown.. haha work comes here and there once parts come in, but beers are always available at my place..

I emailed the guy and messaged him on golf1 but he never responded.. I dont think he makes mounts for awp and 02m... but its alright i am still leaning toward VF mounts... they will be alot stronger then the mk1 engine mount points.. reinforced framerails with VF mounts sounds good to me..
I purchased the shifter from USRT i believe they are the USA distributor of CAE.

Haha i was kind of kidding about "donor car" cause usually on these forums donor is some rust bucket with a few available pieces i kind of laughed when i posted up the pictures.. a 2004 donor car for a 1980 caddy
It is my friends GLI, it has been his baby since day one.. the car can literally be eatten off of.. there are only 24k miles on it.. so i have an 24k mile awp 1.8t and 02m... he decided that he wanted to do something different then big turbo 1.8... hes dropping a R36 motor into it with a vr6 02m 6 speed..
yep thats right 3.6L. he wont miss his 1.8t
