I traded my R32 yesterday. After problems began to arise ending in a tow, I decided to get a 2012 GTI Autobahn. I do miss the sound of the VR6, but the GTI has nice tech toys

Too bad...GTI is nice too but...

Today, I talked to some guy at the gas station about my R...He was looking at the car for a while and then said, "That a 32?" Said he used to be a dealer and has a MkI and MkII GTI at home.
If your gas cap light comes on even if you think you tightened the cap, try pulling on the cap as you tighten it. Worked for me.

Changed my HIDs. What's up with these H7s? Never see them on...can't get them to come on. It seems like my light switch does nothing... I'm clueless..I need to get a manual blasted previous owners.

They were affraid to cut it out in fear that it would cause more damage to the car. So I found another place that says they have a special light that they use and it softends the glue so you can pull the glass out. I hope they are right this time. I'm getting so pissed at this whole situation.

found out why my car is making an awful noise after i lowered it...not the suspension, turns out my outer CV joint is shot and thats wuts been causing the noise . Im pretty new to mechanicing stuff but have friends that say they will help and that the job isnt that bad...wondering your guys opinion on should I replace just the CV joint (around 50.00) or spend the little extra and go for whole axle (100.00) while im under there

real bitch is im not super low so im guessing boot was ripped b4 and didnt notice and with lowering it it changed the angle of the axle and "exposed" the problem

Actually iirc you don't really have a choice in what to replace. I don't believe the axles on these cars are serviceable, so you have to replace the whole thing

Still not too tough, but it is a bit costlier.

No. We had to "rebuild" my unit as my CV separated while we were doing my spring install. Taking the axle off, the DSG side is sealed, you just unbolt the axleshaft from the output shaft and bolt the new one up.

That's why I thought they were not serviceable; we had a hell of a time with it and it never fully sealed properly after... The CV that is, not the DSG or anything

    Yes:
    1. Buy a Spreader Tool or you'll lose your mind trying to get it apart.
    2. You will need XZN Drivers (Triple Square) to take the axle off the output shaft. I think it was 14 but can't swear to it...
    3. Good luck

Today I just used Armor All leather wipes. I keep a small supply or Armor All products in the car for times like this.

Every once in a while I will do the seats with a good leather conditioner, like Mothers. Make sure you clean the seats before conditioning.

Yeah I'm not an Armor All fan at all but a friend recently wiped over my passenger side weatherstripping on my door with Armor All preservative and I must say it really looks great! What would you all recommend for doing the rest of the rubber weatherstripping?

Armor All is known to make things look shiny (not something I like, I'd rather just have clean and protected) and some of their products actually dry your plastic/rubber out so you have to keep using it to make things look the same or you risk premature cracking/wear.

    Right now, I'm using this:

It has UV protection and won't look greasy and ruin your plastic/rubber like Armor All.

As I mentioned above, Adam's also has very good products and I've been happy with either one so I haven't really needed to try anything else.

Today I installed a ecs dog bone insert and a new cabin filter. The insert made a pretty big difference, the car is shifting a lot smoother and I don't notice any vibration. And after reading the last post I remembered I need to clean and condition my leather.

I've used Armor All for probably about 15 years on a range of cars from Jaguars, MBs, Audis, and now the .:R. I've never had any issues. Although I detailed all of those cars on a regular basis, so maybe if I had gone a long period without using the product I would have run into the problems you mentioned.

Personally I like the wet look for darker interiors.

However, this is the first time I've used an Armor All leather product. I got these wipes after a coffee exploded in the passenger seat on a weekend trip.

    Whatever works for you!

I think you were saved by your habit of regular detailing though. I used armor all a long time ago when I was too lazy about doing any detailing regularly and I noticed my dash getting pretty crispy. They may have changed their formulas since but I know they didn't at least up to a few years ago. Since I've found some very good products, I don't think I'll ever use Armor All again, whether they have a new formula or not. These days, I just buy whatever car care products I need from Griots or Adams besides a few waxes and polishes I picked up in emergency situations. I attended an Adam's detailing clinic a few years ago and I like how they go about their business and all their products have worked very well for me. Helps that they had a warehouse close to where I live too.

Cool! Just a warning, if you like the wet look for your interiors, you may not get exactly what you are used to with the products I recommended. They will look clean and maybe a bit darker but not greasy/slick like you get with armor all. I like the UV protection you get with the Vinyl/Rubber Dressing I posted above and I'm not sure what Armor All has but if you keep using it, a good ceramic tint on all windows including the windshield should help prevent any issues.
If your gas cap light comes on even if you think you tightened the cap, try pulling on the cap as you tighten it. Worked for me.

I just wish there were good quality products that I could drive to a store and buy; I hate having to order stuff online.
