Well after we got some snow last week, figured it would be a good weekend to put the winter wheels and tires on (17" Goals and Dunlop Winter Sport 3D's).

Also just got some Rain X Latitudes - I no longer have that annoying streak on the drivers side that has plagued me for the last 3 years

Firmware update to the MFD2 and HPA Velocity Sport CAI. Popped the Passat amp in a couple of weeks ago. Jeremy D. (user jerd) sent me the GenII Haldex this week - I need more weekend!

I was driving sporty today and dodged a deer braking sliding kinda side ways on a dark road in Wisconsin hauling balls.. This was in the twistys on Snake road. That fuker was in the middle of the road wtf. They should be issued reflective vests by the state. Soo much fun tonight though

Cleaned the wheels and hatch with Iron-X...shweet!

The hatch was still turning purple after 3 applications so I gave up for the time being. Apparently I have a pound o' slag embedded in the hatch. CW and rust spots don't mix...

New summer shoes fit perfectly! "Crappy" cell phone teaser pic:

Ride improvement was immediately noticeable. I was was running 17's with GY Eagles and those were a huge improvement over the oem 18" dunlops and this 18 Michelin setup is even better. The dunlops felt like plastic big wheel tires in comparison (those little trikes we had as kids). I'm sure the more aggressive offset also has a lot to do with the feel but the overall ride is much better and I have better stability and grip so it makes we wonder about the oem setup the car came with.

Too bad they have to come off again soon...
If your gas cap light comes on even if you think you tightened the cap, try pulling on the cap as you tighten it. Worked for me.

Loaded the tank and put a whopping 12 miles on.

Been spending most time and energy with a pseudo restore of an 01 Jetta for the daughter, but is kinda working out to be a project car as well. Interior is beige and was in dire need of a major major cleaning. At least thats the color it appears after the gray is washed away. Front seats are left to do atm. New carpet next, then Headliner, rear deck and door insrts - custom fabric yet to be decided. Suspension in january. She already has the bug to hit a dubshow. Maybe, just maybe we can get it to SoWo next year.

Of course a few items are getting ordered for the R, but minor in comparison.
    Thx!

Filled the tank, then drove it down to the local VW dealership to see about getting stuff replaced under warranty...

    - Passenger side vent broke, the little slider thingy came off
    - Trim around shifter chipping
    - Visor light on drivers side broke

Then found out my warranty expires on the 13th... WHEW!

Went out to inspect the car. Checked the oil and looked around the bay. Looks like it needs an oil change and I'm sure the spark plugs need to be changed also. The rear firewall "padding" is sagging.

The heat shield for my VF intake is rubbing a small coolant hose coming off the radiator. Pretty sure it's from install error (PO), since I haven't seen/read anything about the VF heat shield rubbing any coolant lines.

Looks like I finally get to work on my new toy. :]

I am glad that all of the previous SHS customers finally got their relief. I couldn't imagine how annoying it was to wait to get it resolved. Better late then never I guess.

Had a deer run into me this morning...

Drivign the speed limit on a 40mph road (thick fog); this big ~8 point buck sprints out of the woods...

I slammed on the brakes, and swerved hard away; would have missed him as well but then he swerved a bit and headed straight into the passenger side of my car. I saw him go antlers over butt in the rearview and then he jumped up and ran off. Checked out my car and it seems I got really lucky and had no damage at all...

Highs: My brakes work really well and my emergency flashers engaged perfectly

Lows: I am pretty sure my car is jinxed at this point... Animals I have hit or narrowly avoided to date:
    • Deer this morning (sideswiped)
    • Rabbit (broke my front end)
    • 3 possums at once (no actual damage, but helluva clean up)
    • Dog (avoided, but bounced over a curb and tore up a wheel)
    • Squirrel (hit clean, right under the tire)
    • Squirrel (he tucked under the center of the car and survived it, lost his tail though)
    • 4 Deer all avoided, 2 were really close calls though; enough that I had to pull over and lose the adrenaline after
    • 3 cats, 2 dogs, 2 kids and a ferret ; all in the neighborhood...
All I can remember to date... Just figured I'd put it up here.

I have a $0 deductible on comprehensive (which covers animal hits) so most of it to date has been "free" Still annoying and time consuming though
