I have a 2003 Jetta with 100, 247 miles on it.
Just the other day, the MIL came on. I plugged in the Scan-Tool and retrieved the codes:
P2181-Cooling System Fault.
I have heard that usually this code can be set because of a thermostat that isn't working properly. For instance, the engine is taking to long to warm up.
Could this could also be set if the Cooling Fans aren't operating properly?
What I noticed yesterday was that the Large Fan on the drivers side was not turning on...at all.
However, the smaller fan was turning on at 206 degrees F & when the A/C is commanded on.
I checked fuse # S180 (green one on top of battery) and the fuse is intact.
Is the Cooling Fan a common failure? Or...should I be investigating the Climate Control Module?
Thank You for any Insight.
