I just dont get why people put these spacers in there car. They mechanically make absolutely zero sense !

sorry for the lack of input on the actual topic at hand.

It wouldnt surprise me considering the spacer is a HOLE in a system that is designed to be closed.

good call. that would be the easy way to tell. just spray some all purpose cleaner on there, hit it with a wheel well brush, than rinse it off. (i detail cars on the side .

just be sure to use some mild APC. stay away from that power purple stuff seen in pep boys. that stuff removes paint. simple green should do the trick.

yeah i took mine off too and noticed the engine ran smoother. it sounded obnoxious and eventually led to a check engine light. i cleaned it up and returned it after 5 days. couldn't take that fake bov sound anymore

yup add me to the list of install for 3 days and remove after horrible gas mileage, horrible throttle responce, and 11 second long blow off sound randomly. Sounded like i had big rig brakes... stupidest thing ever made....

our FSI engine has the same problem. its from the PCV system dumping into the intake pre-turbo, thus pooling in the DV area.

get a good block off plate or catch can setup and your golden.

its only been 2 days since i removed the spacer and my car feels so much smoother to drive, kinda like the feeling you get after changing your oil!

i just took that thing off today. there was oil everywhere. changed to rev d and boy does it sound and feel better. i can actually hear a better spool with the aftermarket intake and the dv sounds better than the spacer and not as loud but still very noticable im happy

Trust me its not the spacer and when u upgrade to the spacer u should upgrade to the new dv.the old ones where rubber and caused boost leaks from cracking. Also the oil issue i have also with my 07 mkv gti and i dont have the spacer on as of yet. i did research and i came to find that vw made a faulty oil filter seal and will leak all the time change all ur seals for ur oil pan and get a different filter and u should be ready to go.

Sorry, no trust for the misinformed. The spacer is the problem as outlined in earlier posts. It is allowing the blow-by oil to escape. If after removal and a cleanup the OP sees more oil, then he can consider your comments about the oil filter and pan gasket.
