Yeah I am having trouble finding a manufacturer that sells true performance dual rate springs. Progressives are a dime a dozen of course...

I would really like to give it a try, I have been doing a ton of reading on these old school road race cars and am thinking of giving a few different setups a try at some point when i can assemble all the equipment for testing. Good luck at your event, can't wait to see that thing riping again!

If anyone knows where to get that type of spring it would be Bob @ Pegasus.

Hopefully I will get more good news today about the Dyno numbers. All the new jets and peices parts should be arriving at the machine shop and they can get back on it. I really want to see 200hp. If it in fact does hit that number I don't think I will have any problems making a podium finish.
So far the schedule looks like we are going to run Summit Point on May 21/22, then to New Jersey Motorsports Park for the Devil National the weekend of June 4th, then if the money works out right we will be going to the June Sprints at Road America.

lol, they are still on the UPS truck with the jets and emulsion tubes. Parts did not arrive today. Also Franz is not at the shop today. Hopefully tomorrow.
Another peice of news: We sent out the display panel for our scales so I will be able Weight Jack and Balance the car. Minimum weight with driver needs to be 2040lbs.

Minimum weight is higher than I expected. Is there a limit to how much you are allowed to ballast?

Balast is unlimited, whatever I need to do to make minimum weight.
They keep upping our minimum weight so the smaller engine cars can keep up with us. For instance they reduced the inlet restrictor on my 1.8 motor from 25mm to 24.5mm and took minimum weight from 1980 to 2040. The Nissans running 16v motors were knocked down to a 22.5mm restrictor and minimum weight of 2080.

Just wondering if you could at least put a lot of the weight where you wanted it. I know in some classes SCCA limits how much ballast can be used.

In GT ballast is unlimited as long as it is safely secured. I was actually thinking about going inside the bumper tubes / frame rails.

Unfortunately no updates today from the Dyno shop. Apparently UPS uses Nissan, Honda and Toyota delivery vehicles because if they had used a VW my fricking parts would be there by now!!!

Hopefully today will be the day I find out if my investment of time and money will be worth the effort. With any luck and some damn good tuning I should see the magic 200hp number. I will not be totally crushed if I don't see it but it will make me happy as a clam. (btw can someone explain that expression to me?)
Anyway ....... I will post as soon as I hear from Franz and Jim with the dyno numbers.

Good stuff, will you have any pics of it on the rolling road?

It's in good hands, Franz is one of the best. Even if you don't see the 200whp mark, it will be infinitely drivable, and reliable.

Sorry Mike, I doubt you will ever see "road" pictures but usually a few weeks after each race weekend I get lots of professional proofs sent to me in the mail.

Mike is referring to the dyno-- they call them rolling roads in the UK. Iirc, Franz has a Dyno Dynamics unit.

I don't think I will get any video or pictures on the dyno because I'm not going to be there while they tune. I still have a job that I have to spend 11 hours a day at, I would love to take the day off and hang out with them.
I feel like an expectant father waiting in the lobby of the delivery room.

Well, I heard back from Franz!!!!!! I'm stoked the final number came to 191.4. I know its not the 200 I was hoping for but I still have between 20 and 30 more at the wheel then the Nissans.
Actual wheel number was 168 where I was told by a friend that the Nissan's were in the mid 140's.
Still need to work on the Idle a little bit but as far as I'm concerned the Sun just came out and its a beautiful day!!

Unfortunately did not get an unrestricted pull on the motor due to the massive jetting change. In talking to Jim he beleives that with a little more head work and a new cam 205 is not out of the question. Now I need to make a couple calls to aquire a clean 1.8 head. (now accepting donations)
Currently I am running a web 206 grind, gonna need to do some homework to find something that might work better.
I would expect that with the numbers that I have I would not be suprised to see in the neighborhood of 235+ unrestricted but that is only an estimate.
