I recently had the pleasure of selling a set of our Hyper Silver V718's to a SoCal local who dropped by our place for a studio shoot. Brian has some future plans for the car that will really pull things together and allow for an aggressive touch while maintaining an overall clean look. I personally think the Hyper Silver 718's contrast the black perfectly and really help to maintain a sense of class. These are our standard Golf spec V718's at 19x8.5 +45

What do you guys think? Post up any comments you've got!

Our V718 are in stock and ready to go, if anyone happens to be interested

      2 questions:

      1. Is this car lowered?
      2. Size of tire?

      Thx

This car is indeed lowered - tire size is a 225/35/19

Thanks to Matt putting up with my excitement on this. Days felt like weeks waiting for the wheels and the shoot and then the pics...

I couldn't be happier with the service and quality from VMR!

My National Guard unit is from Vegas, we did a year in Afghanistan. My Step-Mom totaled my Civic (yeah yeah) while I was away so when I got back I bought my GTI, tax free in NV for military. I have to keep it registered there until April 2011 or else pay the taxes, which were around $2700 or something. So that's why.

I lived in Vegas until 2008 and then moved back home to Cali where I was born.

Clean look, they really pop with the HID housings. Might be my crappy monitor, but the pics look kind of matte with a few spots of gloss in them.

      Tax free? Nice!

Yeah, I know he had to touch them up a bit, the white backdrop they have there is amazing, but the floor gets some scuffing from rolling the cars out there. Edited out, you can't tell but that might have played into any distortions or matting of the car. I had just washed and waxed her two days before this so believe me, she was shiny from top to bottom! Turtle Wax Black Box (PITA) but works great!

      Love it.

How's it ride with the new wheels and tires? I'm on Konis and stock 18s and think it's fine now, but curious if that would change for the worse on 19s.

Also, any rubbing with wider wheel and more aggressive offset. It looks good, but rubbing would kill it for me.

My front fenders are rolled, my Koni's are 1/4" away from being all the way down in the rears and the front matches for a good proportion (not too much rake, if any at all). I can't remember how much is left in the front but the rears give you an idea. I have no issues with rubbing but I took a longer drive than usual about 2 days ago and I forgot that I had increased the firmness on my fronts (while I still had my 18" Detroits) and it got a little rough with the ups/downs on the freeways here. I lowered it one full turn up front (one full turn less than completely firm) and it seems to be back to how I like it. You definitely notice bumps a little more, but nothing I can't live with. I might drop it the rest of the way down tomorrow just to try it for a few days. If I can run the Koni's all the way down with this setup then it will be a good reference for anyone trying to get low without wanting to rub.

I tend to drive too fast to have a car that is slammed so I've been trying to find a happy medium. The good thing about the 19's is that I still have good ground clearance no matter how low I've gone.

Could only lower it about two threads more, but I took pics anyway.

This is the rear, all the way down on Koni's

This is the front, 10 threads left

Weird, I didn't realize how stretched the tires are. In all the previous pics, I actually didn't think they looked stretched at all. The car is beautiful overall, as are the wheels. I still think I'd have to talk myself into the stretch though.

Rides slightly firmer than stock, and I avoid potholes like anyone else who cares about their wheels.

Most people who ride in my car can't stop complimenting how smooth the ride is and find it hard to believe that I'm on coils. Like anything else, what's good for one person might not be to the taste of the next.

Probably helps you are out west I am already cringing most of time riding on stock 18s in Michigan...

Really want to drop the car on a set of aftermarket coil over but I really can't justify it around here...

I've put about 19k miles on these Konis and hit many potholes and changed the dampening a couple times. You'd be surprised how disable they are, how well they handle (progressive springs), and especially surprised how close to stock they feel even at their lowest height. I know all about crappy roads when I get closer to Los Angeles or drive on the 10fwy.

Care to drop by VMR again to try on some other shoes?
