Not knocking you or anything, but 500hp on a front wheel drive car??? add the air ride into the mix, and it's going to be a bear to drive.

so i put some thought into what you said combined with some comments from people at school and locals. my one question is....

Can I make it RWD without turning the motor longitudinal? if not i don't wanna do RWD and i know i don't wanna do AWD.

Now tell me, how would you do that? There was one guy who did a RWD build and it was a ton of fabrication, and yes, he mounted it longitudinally.

The only thing higher than your ride height is you ambition. I don't want to piss all over your parade...but some of the things you're talking about (500hp and/or rwd) are not easy things to put together.

Nothing is "Impossible"if you have $$$ and skill, but the only way I can think of to get transverse mounted RWD is to move the engine to the rear.

i was thinking of using a R32 style transmission and disabling the the transmission/transfer case to the front wheels.

You'd need the entire 4motion AWD system to make that work, then you'd have to permanently lock the front differential, and permanently lock, or remove the Haldex.
After all that you'd basically be two front CV shafts away from having the full AWD system, so that's a LOT of work, cash, and weight to get RWD.
Plus I have doubts that that setup would be sturdy enough for that sort of power all to the rear wheels.
    But...
There's guys(and Girls) in here that know waaay more about this than me, maybe one of them will chime in.

okay well ill keep checkin and looking for other ideas. cause its not going together anytime soon. still got a ton of body work and engine work to do.

but i did get the rods back today and honed them.

bored the rest of the cylinders, just waiting on the Deck plate to do the finishing touches. then decking the block ever so slightly.

then pistons and rods mate. and she goes back together with a little bit of crank work.

DO reverse to firsts in the jetta, they are sick, and you tires will squeel for a second!...

hate to be a douche but with 15 degree cylinders like that, you should have shimmed the block when you were honing it. But it's done now...

by shimmed the block do you mean used a deck plate? cause I did. I honed the most I could to the point with out it. put the deck plate on torqued it and honed the final crosshatch in. with all the time and parts im throwing at this motor it should be more then capable of reachin my goals and doing it reliably.

and to the mustang comment. thats for your constructive comments. I don't want it sorely for burn outs, or even racing at all. I just want the feel of a RWD car. I'v had FWD my entire life and I don't want the douche bag title that comes with a LS1 or a mustang. I guess its my fault for wanting a fun car.

anyways I'v been doing my research on mega squirt and that is the route i have chosen to go. now its just lining up all the parts and talking to the right people to help me achieve that goal.

sorry if I have offended anyone by my rash comments and particle way of doing things. I just don't want another standard AWD corrado.

no, not a torque plate but shimm the oil pan rail to compensate for the 15 degrees. the head likes to go up and down, not at 15 degree angles. you'll wear stones and shoes unevenly.

I am not a genius by any stretch, but I think this is what they call an oximoron.... There is some serious work involved with an awd build which is why there are only handful of awd Corrado's out there.

idk maybe you used a different machine. i had my motor mounted in the sunnen honing machine at a 15* angle so the hone went directly up and down.

Yeah Porsches,WRX STI,RALLY cars skylines, lambos are boring to drive. If your talking 500 hp 500hp all wheel drive is fun, you obviously don't know what 500hp all wheel drive is capable of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUL6jFvCk8A do all the burnout's you want

no i didn't mean to sound ignorant when i said that lol i realize all of those would be a blast. lol I just feel like having a RWD corrado would be a blast.

that video of the audi was very convincing though. all get more serious about drive train after the engine is assembled. there could be a chance of AWD. nothings 100%
