So I got lucky and found a new daily so I can finally start stripping the cabby apart. I have a lot of plans for the winter and hopefully I can do everything on my list. As soon as I do the head gasket job on the Jetta, the fun will begin.

I put it in the garage yesterday and started to strip it down today. It's going to be a fun winter.

I've been stocking up on some parts over the past few months. I picked up a 16v head that I don't know if I'll use. I might do the 16v head on an ABA block or the stock JH block. Or I might just keep the stock 8v.

The bay will be painted creme with polished and chrome dipped goodies (maybe even some copper dipped parts). It will get a fresh respray with some body work, such as shaves side markers, shaved antenna, and fix dents and rust. I plan to wire tuck and shave a few things from the bay as well.

As for wheels I'll be keeping the Biturbos but fix up the scratches and nicks from the past season and run smaller tires.

One last picture before the tare down

    Here's some stuff I bought:

Early strut mounts and chrome Beetle door handles with bezels

Brand new in box, never used chrome overriders. (With instructions and hardware)

What Beetle did those handles come from? They look like they don't have the lock buttons liek the ones I always see at the swap meets. I've been looking for a set for mine and have come up empty, so far.

Just get some for a Mk 1 Jetta. Most (if not all?) of the Mk 1 Jettas I've seen have chrome inside handles.

No clue, I got them off someone on here. Do you want a closer picture?

Probably most because mine doesn't have them.

The exterior is pretty much stripped and yesterday I pulled the motor. Now the real fun begins.

So...are the Biturbos up for sale/trade? Saw a set FS/trade for MK1 Jetta parts and I instantly thought it may be you.

I had them up for trade, but more than likely I'm keeping them. There's nothing out there that really catches my eye. I just saw a set for sale for $450 shipped and $375 picked up.

Where did you see them for sale?

I saw them in a Facebook group. I don't know if you can see them since it's a private group. But here's the link.
