I grew up around Atlantic City so it's neat to see the area during its hey-day.

Looks like there's trouble coming between Nucky and his brother. I smell betrayal in the air... And what's up with Nucky-Dog gettin' some of that widow poonage?

I see her character developing into something very calculating and dangerous.

I am having a little trouble keeping up with who knows what....does the widow know Nucky knows how to play the game, is a true politician and illegally sells booze? Or does she still not know that?

This is why I like these kinds of serialized dramas. They really evolve the characters over time.

I think she realized what he is early on, but put it aside because he was such a good benefactor. She probably knows that Nucky was behind her husband's death. She sounds like she's Irish, and those people came from a pretty hard past. She's not as naive as she comes off at first.

Diming out the beer warehouse to the feds was more of a temper trantrum because he spurned her advances, than any anti-booze idealism.

Now, his reaction isn't what I expected. He knew she dropped the dime on him, and instead of dealing with her the way he normally might, he slipped her his Micky D.

Maybe he got turned on by her manipulation of events?

I hope she feels empowered and knocks out his current play toy. That chick irritates me to no end.

I was wondering if Nucky is using her to get someone inside the WTU that he can influence.

she seemed way to fragile to be in the middle of such a situation
But after she tore her green shirt to shreds in a feat of anger, i think she may be coming around

Okay, but then she needs to take over naked-titty-and-occasional-bush-flashing-duty if that's the case. The last ep was a little dry in that dept. We only got one quick glimpse of a single random boobage in the background, and I was very disappointed.

That's a possibility. It's also possible he admires her strength for standing up to what she feels is right and isn't afraid to confront people. I think that's a nice change from his bimbo shopping girlfriend.

I thought last night's episode was great...despite the lack of Chalky.

I loved Nucky's threat to Lucky Luciano..."ARE YOU TRYING TO SASS ME YOU GREASY LITTLE C$*&SUCKER?!?!"

i almost gave up on this show, but now its starting to pick up the pace

nucky's giving it to margaret to keep her mouth shut. he knew what she wanted so he gave it to her, now he can sort of control her actions. on the other hand, nucky also cant deny that he likes her, so "slipping her his micky D" is a win-win situation. what a lucky/sneaky ba$tard

i cant believe that one chick is jimmy's mom. she looks wayyy too young, and the way she interacts with jimmy is a little weird for him to be her son. heck, even that dude that was sent to find jimmy was fooled, as he thought she was his wife.
    bazinga!

LOL! My wife and I were both thinking that too.

And I think the line was, "Maybe your cunny isn't the draw that you think it is."

I kind of hope that Margaret really ensnares Nucky and becomes his wife or partner. She's going to have to make a choice to wilt under her shame as a "concubine" or embrace it and gain power from her position. I think that would be some really interesting character development.

I can't tell if it was a psychological thing or a religious thing. But it was f-cking weird either way.

The guy is totally repressed. He's stiff and cold and excruciatingly polite to his wife. Probably too embarrassed or ashamed to even have sex with her.

Self-flagellation might serve two roles for him; penance for his "un-Christian thoughts" w/re to Margaret, and/or he's a masochist and it gets him off.

Yeah, I'd say that's pretty well established. The surprise would be if he's NOT Nucky's kid.

  27. 10-26-2010 11:11 PM #97
Yeah, they never speak of who Jimmy's father is but I guess with a mother like his it's easy not to know. Jimmy is a baaaaaad man.

Van Alden is definitely a strange cat. I agree with the un-christian thoughts statement.

As far as Mrs. Schroder is concerned and her relationship to Nucky, I think she already has him. He is obviously bored to death with the slag he hangs with now and Mrs. Schroder is just as cunning and manipulative as Nucky. She's sharp and she isn't afraid to go behind Nucky's back to get things done. I think that gets him engorged.

    This show is awesome.

I love this show, the new character Richie freaks me out but I love him, the sniper scene was sooooo good. I'm really surprised this thread doesn't have more participation.

I am watching and really liking the show. I think the main characters have been developed and its picking up pace.

So glad Capone didn't show up when one eyed Richie was around. He would have made him feel like **** or called him a freak or something stupid.

So the mother of what we believe to be Jimmy's son (he thinks it might be the photographer) is getting money from Nucky? I am pretty sure that's what she said in between the clam diving session.

Why would Nucky burn the house down after that guy fixed it up? Did he plan to all along or did he decide to do it after he saw this father in there? I mean it looked like he was well compensated for his loss.

So the NY/Philly gangs are trying to muscle in on Nucky's action and planning to knock over the casino.

Next few episodes should be good.

It is called Corporal Mortification or Penance. He is obviously highly religious and possibly even Opus Dei. This is a way for him to cleanse himself of his sins and impure thoughts.
