Ponder was lighting it up! He had some rookie mistakes, and I think they did miss
AP, but their defense left some big, big gaps.
I would like to see Denver start off hot, and stay hot, against the Bears. Too many
3 and outs on offense.

It was a fun game to watch that's for sure! I was just glad Fox was airing it down here.
It was interesting since I'm also a Florida State fan, watching Ponder play Tebow again. He never did beat him in college so I felt bad for him. I like him as a QB though and think he'll do well in Minnesota.

I cant really say I have a good feeling about the overall game playing without Cutler and Forte.
But I cant wait to see Briggs,Urlacher,Peppers ect try to run down Tebow
My hope. Bears win [like a 3-0 game lol] then the Broncos go on to smash New England and take their division![]()

I'm getting kind of tired of this Tim Tebow garbage. The Chicago Bears completely choked the game away at the end.

Just wanted to say, I believe in the Jesus and Tebow magic. also believe in Matt Prayer

HUGE understatment.
I wont get into Martz HORRIBLE play calling like having an empty backfield on 1st and 24 and the other team knows you cant pass protect.
Or playing prevent defense after stuffing the Broncos all day.
But Barber a power back running out of bounds?? Are you kidding me?? Then coughing the ball up in field goal range?
Just an awfull game to watch. Two inept offenses waiting for the other one to screw up. The Barber handled that.
#114
The Broncos should have won this game going away, frankly. The wide receivers
were dropping passes all day. We got lucky on this one, while I thought we
outplayed Minnesota. But hey, better lucky than a sore loser!
Again, Tebow makes progress in passing.
So now we host New England next. Hopefully we'll see the game here in DC.
#115
From my earlier post:
"THEN we host New England. ACK!
So, we have our work cut out for us. If we go 2-2 during this period I think that's pretty good.
Then we travel to Buffalo. They're not playing well mostly due to injuries, but still.
We end the season hosting Kansas City, which is winnable."
So, we host New England, then travel to Buffalo, then host KC.
We need to win two out of those three to win the division, if I got that
correct.
People have been scoring on New England all year, so this game will be no
different. We can both run and pass against their defense.
The hope is that we can stay close, pressure Brady into making a mistake,
and win late.
But I have to say as a fan and at the same time having no desire to
have a heart attack, PLEASE let us win a game going away just once.
PLEASE! I understand this won't be possible against New England, but
how about KC?
#116
A win is a win, but that kind of performance shouldn't be given much credit. I hope this game was an eye opener to the whole team. They won't win against NE with 13 points.
8 dropped passes, 2 turnovers, and magic shouldn't be the rule, however the exception is winning.
The one thing I will say about Tebow is that he's the most exciting player I've seen in a really long time, and although it's not pretty, it's exciting and that's why we watch the game, right?

I thought, "Marion Barber? He's still playing? How the hell old is he?."

It would be hard to imagine they could.
Hanie had his best QB rating of his career at 79.
And Barber his best game as a Bear, and at the same time his worst lol.
The Bears came into the game having not scored a TD in like 6 quarters [shut out at home against KC] and should have won this game.
Heart breaking as a Bears fan to lose the NFL leader in yards from scrimmage and replace him with what we got out of Barber yesterday.
Von Miller is a BEAST though. Forget an arm in a cast he could probably cause damage with no arm at all. I liked what I saw out of the O-line too.
Again hard to imagine they can keep pace with the Pats but I hope they can. A playoff home game for the Broncose would be insane. That place will be LOUD.

This is something no one has been talking about. From what I've noticed Mile High has been rocking like the old house did. It seems a lot louder than the 6-0 run we had two years ago as well. The nice thing about the Tebow disciples is that they come out and support him. They may cheer when he is on offense but they also cheer when we're on D. Fortunately they’re slowly learning the right time to cheer. Either way I rather have a loud crowd on both sides of the ball than no noise at all. I love it! Dare I say we almost have our home field advantage back? If we get a home playoff game this year, I can guarantee Mile High will be back to its storied past!![]()
#121
Fedex Field (I hate that name) i.e. the new Mile High WILL be rocking, that's for sure!
It'll be interesting to see our game plan vs. the Patriots. You can't really stop Brady.
Our defensive backfield is beat up as well. If we can slow him down a bit with defense,
and REALLY slow the game down on offense by running it right down their throats
and milking the clock, you keep our defense rested, and hopefully us close at the
end of the game.
#123
Crap! This is what I get for living in the DC area for too long.
Yup, Sports Authority. It was Invesco Field.
#124
Good luck with that plan. The Pats D is best up the middle with the front 7 and are very good against the run. The Pats weakness is the secondary plus if the Pats get ahead by a couple of scores. Tebow is going to have to pass. I don't think the Broncos can keep the game close enough to win it.
#125
Yeah, I thought that until the Minnesota game. They did the exact same thing:
stacked the box and forced Timmy to throw.
I just don't think the Patriots have as stout a front 7 as Minnesota or Chicago.
Update: yup!
http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/te...sition/defense
and let's not forget New England has given up more yards overall than ANY other
team:

I've heard this before from NE fans... maybe you should look at the Broncos record against the Tom Brady lead Patriots?
#127
Huh. You have an updated link to that info? I found one but it's 4 years old.
Wait, here's one from April:

Recently NE has struggled against Denver...
http://herringbonesports.com/2011/12...de-tebowmania/
On a similar note I played with the ESPN Playoff Machine and I think Denver really needs to beat NE to have a chance at being anything better than a 4 seed if we make the playoffs. I really want Denver to be a 3 or better seed so we don't have to play the Steelers, a team Denver has really struggled with in recent years, or the Ravens.

#130
National media keeps harping on the most yards allowed but they are only 15th or 16th in points allowed. Since when is yards allowed more important then points allowed????
The Packers also have given up a ton of yards too. The other thing that happens the Pats get way ahead and then go Prevent D so the give up even more yards.
#131
Appears they are very good at getting turnovers. They also score quickly.
So, the opponent has to play catch-up, and their defense is almost always
playing with a lead.
Defenses playing with a lead can pin their ears back and afford to be more
aggressive.
The best way to fix this is slow the game down, run on them, chew up the
clock, and wear the the defense down. We're VERY good at this. The
only question is whether or not we can finish drives and keep pace with
the New England offense. If we're a touchdown behind by the end of the 3rd
quarter, I give us as good a chance as any to win the game.
#132
Good read on a side of Tebow you don't hear much about:

Ah, yes, unlike the "tuck" ruling. Heh. Oakland should have won the Super Bowl
that year with Rich Gannon.
As many of my relatives said at the time, "We NEVER get that call!"
Luck breaks towards those who are prepared and work hard.
#135
I can't say its all luck. I would say the Bears game was the closet game to a lucky win on this run. But the luck went both ways. Prater had a 28 yard field goal blocked, how often does that happen? DT lets a TD pass fall through his hands, how lucky was that?
Either way Sunday should be a fun one. Both teams seem to have a high level of mutual respect for each other. I would say up to this point NE is the only team taking Denver seriously. Like I alluded to earlier, I think the winner of this game has a very good chance of going deep into the playoffs.
#136
Just because something is rare doesnt make it luck. When special teams makes a great play it isnt luck.
When a bad player makes a bad play that isnt lucky for the other team. You expect bad WR drop passes. He has about 20 catches this year and has fumbled 3 of them?
When a power back tip toes out of bounds and stops the clock thats pretty lucky. When he has carried the ball 102 times and never put the ball on the ground until his team was in FG range in OT to kick a field goal then fumbles thats pretty lucky.
Its also pretty lucky that the Broncos didnt have to face Cutler and Forte, despite all that it took the Bears blunders [coaching as well] to overcome the 10 deficit.
That game was far more about what the Bears did and didnt have then the Broncos. If Cutler and Forte play does anyone think that game would have been close?
Ok I wont talk about this game anymore![]()
#137
Rationalize it all you want. "Luck" goes both ways, only one team capitalizes on it. Injuries happen all the time. I would say GB was lucky last year Jay couldn't man up and play with an MCL injury. I wonder WWTD in that situation?![]()
#138
What I'm trying to say is through the course of a season and more specifically a game many things happen, most of which aren't necessarily luck and more along the lines of a good or bad play. That’s what makes it a game. A lucky win would be like the Broncos win over the Bengals two years ago with the immaculate deflection.
#139
If you can't contain Brady's offsense, Tebow's brand of offense is completely useless. Ground and pound offense takes too much time.
If the Pats has a 2 TD advantage, Tebow's play works in the Pat's favor.
#140
Well, now, yes ground and pound DOES work.
Even if Brady and Company score in two minutes, a quarter is only 15 minutes.
You can chew up 8-10 minutes on a drive. It's tough to score when you aren't
even on the field.
In fact, ground and pound is EXACTLY how we want to play it. Slow the game
way down, so each and every time our defense has to play against the hurry up,
they are well rested.
Then hope for a random Brady interception, or our special teams to make a play.
